The Riviera Maya corridor between Cancún and Tulum has four confirmed adults-only swim-up resorts – all all-inclusive, all with terrace-to-pool access confirmed via Booking.com. Valentin Imperial and El Dorado Royale sit in Puerto Morelos (25–45 min from CUN). Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya is in Playa del Carmen. El Dorado Seaside Suites is in Akumal. Every hotel on this list is adults-only; families should look at the Cancún swim-up rooms guide instead.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya
The highest-rated swim-up hotel in the Riviera Maya. Valentin Imperial's Golden Junior Suite Swim Up sits on the ground floor with a large furnished terrace opening directly onto the shared pool – the suite is separated from the water only by a short patio and two sun loungers, no barriers. Adults-only throughout (18+), all-inclusive with 10 restaurants spanning French, Italian, Japanese, Indonesian, Mexican and international cuisines. The lazy river pool runs through the entire resort and is one of the standout features guests consistently mention. At 25 minutes from CUN, this is the most convenient confirmed swim-up resort in the corridor.
Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya
The most affordable confirmed swim-out resort in the Riviera Maya. Hyatt Zilara's King Junior Suite with Swim-Out comes in three view configurations – Tropical View ($440), Pool View ($475) and Ocean Front View ($595) – all with a terrace that steps directly into the shared pool. Adults-only (18+), all-inclusive with four restaurants. The Hyatt Zilara brand delivers a consistent luxury AI product, the same formula confirmed at Hyatt Zilara Cancun and Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall in Jamaica. The Playa del Carmen location is 50 minutes from CUN and close to the 5th Avenue nightlife and restaurant strip for guests who want to explore beyond the resort.
El Dorado Seaside Suites Oceanfront
The most distinctive swim-up layout in the Riviera Maya: El Dorado Seaside Suites arranges swim-up pools by floor – each floor of the building has its own shared pool accessible directly from the suite terrace, confirmed by multiple guest reviews ("each floor had a swim-up pool"). The Royal Retreat Oceanfront Swim Up Suite is the larger configuration with a sofa bed. Adults-only (18+), all-inclusive, with direct Caribbean beachfront access and 10 restaurants. Akumal is 75 minutes from CUN – the trade-off is the dramatic oceanfront position and genuinely small-resort feel that neither Hyatt nor Valentin can match.
El Dorado Royale by Karisma
The classic adults-only swim-up resort in the Riviera Maya. El Dorado Royale's Swim Up Junior Suite and BeachFront Swim Up Junior Suite are in low-rise casita-style buildings with terraces opening onto shared pool channels that run the length of each row. Adults-only (18+), all-inclusive across 90 acres with 14 restaurants and an on-site beach club. The beachfront configuration (BeachFront Swim Up) combines direct pool access with ocean proximity. Sister property to El Dorado Seaside Suites – same brand, different atmosphere: Royale is the larger, more social resort; Seaside is more intimate.
When to go
November through April is the dry season and the optimal period – reliably sunny, low humidity, Caribbean sea at 26–27°C. December through February is peak: prices are highest, swim-up inventory sells out earliest (Valentin Imperial and El Dorado Royale book out 3–4 months ahead for Christmas and January). Book by September for winter travel.
May through October brings afternoon rain and higher humidity, but resorts are 20–30% cheaper and significantly quieter. Hurricane risk is real from July through October – travel insurance is essential. June is the sweet spot: prices have dropped, crowds thinned and weather more stable than later months. Pools and the Caribbean sea are swimmable year-round.
