When to go

Phuket's dry season runs November to April, with January and February typically the clearest months and least rain. The wet season (May–October) brings heavy afternoon showers and, occasionally, tropical storms; the west-coast beaches (Kamala, Nai Thon, Layan) are swimmable for most of the wet season but rougher than the dry. October and November are shoulder months with lower prices and sporadic rain. For Phuket specifically, November is often the best value month: dry season conditions begin, prices haven't reached December–January peak levels. For South-East Asian alternatives with private-pool villas, Bali has a deeper villa market centred on Ubud's jungle resorts.
