Koh Samui is a smaller swim-up room market than Phuket – the island leans toward private-pool villas and boutique resorts rather than large all-inclusive complexes – but the options that do exist are genuinely strong. Meliá Koh Samui, Centara Reserve, The Lamai Samui and Bhundhari all have confirmed pool-access room categories at very different price points and atmospheres. The Gulf of Thailand season runs November through April, with a secondary dry window in June and July.

Meliá Koh Samui
The strongest swim-up room pick on the island. Meliá Koh Samui's The Level Pool Access category has a ground-floor terrace that opens directly onto the pool – the room page on melia.com confirms the pool access specifically. The Level section at Meliá properties is a hotel-within-a-hotel concept: dedicated lounge, concierge, and upgraded service alongside the pool access. Choeng Mon Beach at the island's northeast tip is quieter and more scenic than the main Chaweng strip – better for couples than for guests who want easy access to the night markets.
Centara Reserve Samui
The resort choice for guests who want swim-up access alongside Koh Samui's most central beach. Centara Reserve is on Chaweng – the island's main beach, with the widest stretch of sand and easiest access to restaurants, nightlife and transport. Deluxe Pool Access rooms have terraces with direct pool entry, and the resort has a separate adults-only pool area alongside the main freeform pool with swim-up bar. At $300–450/night this is the priciest option on the list, but the Chaweng beachfront location and resort-scale facilities justify it for guests who want everything in one place.
The Lamai Samui
The Lamai Beach option. The Pool Access King/Twin rooms have a ground-floor terrace opening directly onto the shared pool – the hotel's own room page confirms "direct access to a shared pool" overlooking "the inviting communal pool." Lamai Beach is Samui's second-most popular beach, quieter than Chaweng but with its own restaurant strip and local character. At $150/night a strong midpoint between Bhundhari's budget and Centara's luxury tier.
Bhundhari Chaweng Beach Resort
The value option at Chaweng Beach. Deluxe Pool Access rooms have a private terrace that connects directly to the shared swimming pool – the hotel's own accommodation page describes rooms "connected to a shared swimming pool," so several rooms open onto the same canal-style pool. Chaweng Beach location at $130–180/night makes this the most affordable swim-up option near the island's main beach. A good choice if location and price matter more than resort scale.
When to go
Koh Samui's seasons are the opposite of the Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi). The Gulf of Thailand dry season runs November through April – the best months for beach and pool use, with low rainfall and reliable sunshine. December and January are peak: busiest, most expensive and when swim-up room inventory fills earliest. February through April sees the crowds thin while the weather holds.
The Gulf coast gets a secondary dry window in June and July, which is an underused shoulder season – good weather, noticeably lower prices and quieter resorts. August brings some rain before the island's main wet season intensifies in October and November. Avoid October and November specifically – this is when the Gulf of Thailand sees its heaviest rainfall and occasional tropical storms. The island is largely quiet during this period and many smaller resorts close for maintenance.
