Punta Cana is one of the Caribbean's strongest swim-up room destinations – a cluster of all-inclusive resorts ranging from bungalow swim-outs on Juanillo Beach to lazy river suites in Bávaro. Most of the confirmed swim-up properties are adults-only. The main geographic split is between Cap Cana (20 min from PUJ, more upscale) and Bávaro (20–30 min, more resorts to choose from, wider price range). This guide gives you the exact room category to book at each resort and what to pay in 2026.

Secrets Cap Cana Resort & Spa
The strongest swim-out property in Punta Cana. Secrets Cap Cana's Preferred Club Bungalow Suite Swim Out is a 72 m² Caribbean casita – wooden floors, a moon shower on the private patio, and a furnished terrace with direct swim-out access. No private plunge pool here: the terrace steps into the swim-out pool, which is the shared pool for the bungalow wing. The Swim Out Ocean Front upgrade adds direct Caribbean Sea views.
The Preferred Club tier unlocks butler service, a dedicated lounge and a higher service level throughout the stay. Playa Juanillo, immediately in front of the resort, is consistently rated one of the top beaches in the Dominican Republic – calm, clean and rarely crowded relative to Bávaro.
For the Caribbean's best bungalow swim-out format, nothing in Punta Cana touches this. If the price is steep, Secrets Royal Beach covers the same brand at significantly lower rates in Bávaro.
Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana
The best value adults-only swim-up option in Punta Cana. The Preferred Club Junior Suite Swim Up at Secrets Royal Beach has a furnished terrace with direct pool access, and the pool system includes a lazy river – unusual in a Caribbean swim-up context. Adults-only throughout (18+), all-inclusive on the Unlimited-Luxury plan with 6 restaurants and 3 pools on site. Full access to the Secrets Spa by Pevonia.
At $560/night versus $900+ at Secrets Cap Cana, this is where couples who want the Secrets brand experience without the Cap Cana premium should book. The Bávaro location on Arena Gorda Beach is 14 km from the airport and has good access to the wider Bávaro strip. For families who want a swim-up option with a broader mix of guests, Majestic Elegance is 7 km south along the same beach.
Majestic Elegance Punta Cana
The most versatile swim-up option in Punta Cana. Majestic Elegance offers three distinct swim-up categories: the Majestic Jr. Suite Swim Up is the mixed-resort option (children permitted in the general resort). The Elegance Club Majestic Jr. Suite Swim Up and Elegance Club Swim Up Suite with Outdoor Jacuzzi are strictly adults-only (18+), with access to the private Elegance Club pool, beach area and butler service.
The resort sits directly on Arena Gorda Beach – one of the calmer stretches of Bávaro – with 5 pools, 8 restaurants and an on-site casino. Strong guest scores put this as the most consistently rated swim-up property in the area. The Elegance Club upgrade is worth the premium if you want the adults-only atmosphere without paying Secrets-level rates.
For comparable adults-only all-inclusive value at a lower price point, TRS Turquesa is 7 km north along Bávaro at $380/night.
TRS Turquesa Hotel
The most affordable confirmed swim-up category in Punta Cana at around $380/night AI. TRS Turquesa (Palladium group) is adults-only throughout, all-inclusive, and sits on El Cortecito Beach in Bávaro – the same stretch as Secrets Royal Beach, 20 km from PUJ. The Junior Suite Swim Up is the confirmed room category on Booking.com, with a terrace giving direct pool access.
The TRS brand is known for a high service standard within the Palladium complex: guests get access to 19 restaurants across the Grand Palladium Complex – the widest dining spread of any resort on this list. Butler service is included. Pool type for the swim-up category requires Perplexity confirmation before booking – check room description carefully. For a fully confirmed swim-up at a similar price point, Majestic Elegance Elegance Club is the safe alternative.
When to go
December through April is peak season and the best time to be in Punta Cana – dry, sunny and warm (27–30 °C), with the Caribbean at its clearest. Swim-up rooms at the Cap Cana and Bávaro properties book out months ahead for Christmas and spring break. Expect prices 30–50% above the September rates shown here.
November is the best shoulder month: still warm and dry enough for pool and beach use, noticeably cheaper and calmer. February through April is the sweet spot inside peak season if you want good weather and a quieter resort.
May through October is hurricane season. Travel insurance is essential and some weeks – particularly August through early October – carry real weather risk. The pools are always operational, but beach days can be disrupted. June and early July work for budget-focused travel, but the risk rises from August.
One note on geography: both Bávaro and Cap Cana are 20–30 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ). The transfer time difference between the two areas is minimal – the real difference is price, exclusivity and resort scale, not location.
