Nayara Bocas del Toro, adults-only, all-inclusive, on its own island in the Bocas del Toro archipelago, sells overwater villas with a private plunge pool from around $1,660 a night. A 42-villa Viceroy is coming to the same archipelago, but not this year.

Which Nayara villa should you book?
Book the Overwater Pool Villa – on Booking.com it appears as "Villa with Private Pool" or "Water Window Villa", both around 102 m² and both carrying a genuine private pool. The Water Window Villa is the cheaper of the two at roughly $1,660, and it has the glass floor panel over the reef. That is the one to take. Check Nayara availability – it is a small resort, under two dozen villas, and rates are all-inclusive.
Skip the King Room with Garden View at around $1,420. It is a garden room without a pool, and it is only a couple of hundred dollars below a villa that has one.

Nayara Bocas del Toro
The property trades as Nayara Bocas del Toro, but its Booking.com URL still reads bocas-bali-bocas-del-toro after the Bocas Bali name it carried before Nayara took it over. That is normal – the link works and points at the right hotel.
It sits on Isla Frangipani, its own island in the Bocas del Toro archipelago on Panama's Caribbean side, reached by boat. Fewer than two dozen villas, adults-only, all-inclusive, built in Balinese teak with four-poster beds under sari canopies and an outdoor terrace over the water. The Elephant House, a century-old structure shipped over from Bali, is the dining room.
Match the names carefully when you book. The hotel's own site names its categories Overwater Pool Villa Deluxe, Overwater Pool Villa, Treehouse and Presidential Villa, and the two Overwater Pool Villas are the ones with a private saltwater plunge pool on the terrace. Booking.com renames them: the two bookable pool categories appear as Villa with Private Pool and Water Window Villa, each listing "Private pool" in its room facilities. Booking's third category, the King Room with Garden View, has no pool – it is the land-based room, and it is the one to avoid if the pool is the point.
Rates are all-inclusive and run from roughly $1,660 to $1,870 for a pool villa. That is expensive in absolute terms and unremarkable for an overwater villa anywhere in the Caribbean.
Book this one if you want an overwater villa with its own pool and you want it in Panama – there is no alternative. Check Nayara rates – it is a small property on a private island, and dry-season dates go early.
Booking's cheapest room has no pool. The King Room with Garden View is land-based, and Booking's category names differ from the hotel's own. Confirm the reservation says Villa with Private Pool or Water Window Villa.
What else Panama has – and why it isn't on the list
Panama's luxury coastline is genuinely thin, and the gap is commercial rather than geographic. Four properties come up repeatedly.
Viceroy Bocas del Toro is the one to watch. It will have 42 overwater villas, each with a private plunge pool and direct sea access, inside a 165-hectare development called CasiCielo, alongside 186 rooms and residences, eight restaurants and a rainforest spa. Trade coverage puts the launch in late 2026, and we found no evidence that reservations are open. When it lands it will roughly triple Panama's overwater-with-pool inventory overnight. Until then it is a construction site, not a booking.
Bastimentos Surf Resort, on Isla Bastimentos in the same archipelago, does have villas with private plunge pools – but we could not find it on Booking.com or another mainstream booking site, so there is no reliable way to send you there.
The Sea Monkey Overwater Bungalows is the budget overwater option in Bocas and the one autocomplete surfaces most after Nayara. Overwater, yes. Private pools, no.
Islas Secas and Isla Palenque, in the Gulf of Chiriquí on the Pacific side, are the country's other serious luxury properties. Islas Secas is a 14-island private reserve with eight casitas and villas and books direct only – we cover it under private island resorts in Panama. Neither confirms a private pool tied to a specific bookable room category.
What this means for the trip
Panama has one bookable overwater-villa-with-pool resort, and it is a small one, with a much larger rival arriving late 2026. That is the whole market. If your dates are in the January-to-April dry season, book well ahead – there is no second option to fall back on. Check Nayara Bocas del Toro availability.
If the overwater villa matters more than the country, overwater bungalows in the Caribbean covers the whole region and Belize is the closest comparable market – though none of Belize's five overwater resorts has a private pool either. For a deeper private-pool market at lower rates, private pool villas in Costa Rica is next door.
When to go
January through April is Bocas del Toro's dry season and the best window: calmer seas for the boat transfer to Isla Frangipani, clearer water for the reef under the villa, and the highest rates of the year. This is when a property this size sells out.
September and October are a genuine second window – Bocas has a short drier spell in early autumn that the rest of Panama's Caribbean coast doesn't share. May through August and November through December are the wettest, with the Caribbean side taking more rain than Panama City.
Getting there is a flight to Bocas del Toro Airport (BOC), usually via Panama City, then a boat transfer the resort arranges.
