Santorini's private pool villa market sits almost entirely on the caldera rim – Oia, Fira and Imerovigli – where suites carved into volcanic cliffs face 12 km of open Aegean water. Canaves Oia Epitome leads the island on both reputation and pool villa inventory; Grace Hotel in Imerovigli has confirmed plunge pool suites at the island's highest caldera point; Anteliz Suites in Fira gives the most accessible entry to a private infinity pool from €450 per night.

Grace Hotel, Auberge Collection
Grace Hotel, Auberge Collection is a boutique cliff-edge property in Imerovigli – the village that sits at the highest point of the caldera rim, approximately 300 metres above sea level, giving a wider field of view than either Oia or Fira can match. The hotel's own description positions it as offering "the widest available caldera view from any hotel in Santorini," and the elevation geometry bears this out: from Imerovigli the full caldera basin and the opposite caldera wall at Oia are simultaneously visible without obstruction.
Six suite categories have confirmed private plunge pools per unit: Junior Suite with Plunge Pool, Superior Suite with Plunge Pool, Grace Suite with Plunge Pool, VIP Suite with Plunge Pool, Infinity Suite with Pool and Deluxe Room with Plunge Pool. All are described as heated private pools on the suite's own terrace, not shared with other guests. The caldera pool that runs along the hotel's cliff edge is a shared amenity available to all guests; the suite plunge pools are separate and exclusively per unit. The Junior Suite with Plunge Pool is the entry point into private pool accommodation here and typically carries the lowest per-night rate of the six pool categories.
Imerovigli has a quieter character than Oia – fewer day-tripping crowds, calmer paths in the evenings and a slightly shorter taxi transfer from the airport (around 12 minutes from JTR vs 15 for Oia). For a larger private pool villa inventory in Oia, see Canaves Oia Epitome. For a more affordable caldera entry with a private infinity pool, Anteliz Suites in Fira is 4 km south.
Anteliz Suites
Anteliz Suites is a 13-suite boutique property on the caldera rim in Fira, the island's main town and transport hub. Unlike the larger caldera hotels where the private pool is a premium category tier, at Anteliz almost every suite has its own private infinity pool on its terrace – the hotel was designed around this concept. The Infinity Pool Suite (entry category, from ~€450/night) has a private infinity pool directly overlooking the caldera; the Pool Suite has a similar configuration with a slightly different aspect; the Anteliz Heritage Villa scales to three bedrooms with its own private pool and garden. No suite shares a pool with another unit.
The price positioning is the most significant differentiator in this guide: the Infinity Pool Suite starts at roughly half the rate of the entry pool suites at Canaves Oia Epitome or Grace Hotel, while still sitting on the caldera rim in Fira with comparable water views. Fira is also the most connected point on the island – the cable car to the old port runs from here, the main bus terminus is in Fira, and the airport is a 5-minute taxi. Guests prioritizing island access and value over the Oia sunset location consistently cite Anteliz as the clearest decision.
What Anteliz does not offer: the formal resort infrastructure of the larger properties – no spa, no multiple dining options, no butler service. The experience is boutique: personal service from a small team, high attention to suite condition and a caldera view that is functionally equivalent to properties charging twice the rate. Compare Grace Hotel for the wider caldera panorama at Imerovigli, or Canaves Oia Epitome for the broadest pool villa selection on the island.
When to go
Santorini's private pool villa season runs April through October. May, June and September are consistently the best months: air temperatures reach 25–28°C, sea temperatures 22–24°C, and villa rates are 25–40% below the July–August peak. The summer crowds at Oia – and particularly the sunset viewpoint – reach maximum density in August; Imerovigli and Fira are meaningfully quieter at the same dates.
July and August bring peak demand, the highest villa prices of the year and fully operational ferry and flight schedules – if dates are fixed, book 3–4 months ahead for pool suite categories at Canaves and Grace. October remains warm (22–24°C) with quieter roads and lower rates; most caldera hotels close by mid-November. Santorini Airport (JTR) connects to London Gatwick, Heathrow, Manchester and Edinburgh on direct flights via EasyJet, Jet2, British Airways and TUI throughout summer. Flight time from the UK is around 3 hours 30 minutes. For Cyclades alternatives, Mykonos has four hotels with confirmed private pool suites from €600/night.
