Best Private Pool Villas in Trancoso, Brazil (2026)

The famous names in Trancoso mostly won't sell you a private pool. Fasano lists suites, Villas de Trancoso runs on shared water, and even UXUA reserves its pools for 3 of its 15 casas. Three properties sell a genuine private-pool category on Booking.com, and the deepest inventory belongs to the least famous of them – Hotel Boutique Bahia Bonita, about 100 meters off the Quadrado, from around $425 a night.

Those are entry rates outside the December–February Brazilian summer peak. All three are confirmed against the hotel's own room description or Booking.com's room facilities – not marketing copy. The private pool villas hub applies the same test everywhere else.

Which Trancoso private pool villa should you book?

For almost every trip, book Hotel Boutique Bahia Bonita. It is the only property in Trancoso that treats a private pool as a normal room feature rather than a rarity: seven separate categories carry one, from a two-person Suite with Private Pool up to a Four-Bedroom Villa, and the whole place sits a two-minute walk from the Quadrado. Check Bahia Bonita availability – it has 11 rooms in total, so the pool categories are a handful of units, and they go first.

If the design of the building matters as much as the pool, book UXUA – its casas are individually restored fishermen's houses, not a repeated room type. If you want rainforest rather than village, book Txai's Premium Bungalow, and accept that it is a separate trip: Itacaré is 393 km north, roughly 5.5 hours by road.

Hotel Boutique Bahia Bonita

This is the answer the older guides miss. Bahia Bonita is an 11-room boutique hotel about 100 meters from the Quadrado, and its Booking.com listing sells seven categories with a private pool: Suite with Private Pool, Deluxe Bungalow with Private Pool, two different Two-Bedroom Villas with Private Pool, two Three-Bedroom Villas, and a Four-Bedroom Villa.

The headline unit on the hotel's own site is the Suíte Master com Piscina Privativa – 135 m², with a private infinity pool and heated jacuzzi, a canopied king bed and a balcony over the Atlantic Forest, sleeping up to four.

Rates open around $425 for a private-pool category in the shoulder months, which is roughly what UXUA charges for a casa without one. The larger villas price per villa rather than per person, so a three-bedroom works out well below the per-couple cost of anywhere else on this list.

Book this one if you want a private pool in walking distance of the Quadrado without paying Trancoso's designer-hotel premium. Check Bahia Bonita rates – with 11 rooms across the whole property, a specific pool category is often down to a single unit.

UXUA Casa Hotel and Spa

UXUA is a cluster of restored fishermen's houses on the Quadrado itself, and it is the most photographed hotel in Bahia for good reason. But be precise about what you are booking: of its 15 casas, three carry their own pool.

• Seu João – 1 bedroom, 125 m², a private pool with hydro-massage, an outdoor shower and a pergola-shaded lounge. Booking.com lists "Private pool" in its room facilities.
• Eugênia – 2 ensuite bedrooms, 228 m², described by the hotel as its most luxurious house, with a pool shaped from local stones.
• Casa Luz – 3 suites, 170 m² of house plus a 150 m² patio, with a stepped pool tiled in onyx in a garden courtyard.

Everything else, including the much-booked Casa do Lago, does not. Casa do Lago is the largest house on the property at 300 m² and has a swimmable lake with rare fish – a genuine feature, but not a pool, and not what you want if the pool is the point.

Seu João opens around $936 a night, Eugênia closer to $1,482. Book this one if you want the Quadrado address and a building with a history, and you are booking Seu João, Eugênia or Casa Luz by name. Check UXUA rates – three pool casas in a 15-casa hotel is genuinely scarce inventory.

Txai Resort

Txai is a Relais & Châteaux resort in the Atlantic Rainforest near Itacaré, and its Premium Bungalow is the one category with a private pool: 70 m² on a suspended wooden deck up on the morro, forest views, an outdoor shower and a covered veranda. The hotel's own description is unambiguous – "nosso mais sofisticado bangalô… além de uma piscina privativa."

The trap here is the neighboring category. The Luxury Bungalow is also 70 m² on a suspended deck and reads almost identically, but it has a private covered veranda and no pool. Same footprint, different product, and the Booking.com category names don't flag the difference.

Two things to weigh. The Premium Bungalow is Txai's most expensive room, opening around $1,316 – more than either Trancoso option. And Itacaré is not a day trip: 393 km north of Trancoso, about 5.5 hours by road, closer to Ilhéus airport (IOS) than to Porto Seguro.

Book this one if rainforest and surf beaches appeal more than a colonial square, and you are treating Itacaré as its own trip. Check Txai rates and make sure the reservation says Premium, not Luxury.

The famous Trancoso hotels that don't sell a private pool

Three properties come up constantly in searches for a private-pool villa in Trancoso. None of them will sell you one through a standard booking channel, and it's worth knowing why before you go looking.

Hotel Fasano Trancoso genuinely has 23 villas with private pool decks, built by Isay Weinfeld on the Itapororoca beachfront. They are residences inside the Reserva Trancoso development, not hotel rooms – Fasano's Booking.com listing sells only Deluxe Room, Deluxe Twin, Suite and Twin Room, and the hotel's shared water is a 50-meter adult pool plus a children's pool along a 500-meter seafront deck. If you want a Fasano villa, that's a direct conversation with the property, not a booking.

Villas de Trancoso is a ten-unit retreat – a VIP Villa, four suites, two one-bedroom and three two-bedroom villas – and its own accommodations page describes shared pools, with the standard suites sitting in front of the smaller of them. Private decks and gardens, yes. Private pools, no.

Etnia Casa Hotel is the closest call, and it used to sit on this list. Its five bookable villas – Ebatí, Bibalé, Afín, Ibó and Ilê – all read beautifully, but Booking.com's own room facilities list them under pool view, not private pool: they look onto the property's shared pool. Only Villa Ilê, a four-suite house on its own 1,500 m² garden plot at Rua Piri 146, has water of its own, and it wasn't showing as sold on the dates we checked. Ibó has an outdoor jacuzzi rather than a pool.

What this means for Trancoso

Trancoso's private-pool market is small, and it is small for a structural reason: the town's luxury hotels are conversions of small village houses around a 16th-century square, and a 15-casa property with three pools is what fits on those plots. The one hotel with real depth of private-pool inventory, Bahia Bonita, got there by building bungalows and villas on a garden site just outside the Quadrado rather than inside it.

That has a practical consequence. Three hotels, and in two of them only a named handful of units – Bahia Bonita has 11 rooms in total, UXUA has three pool casas, Txai has one pool category. December through February, Brazilian summer, these are gone months ahead.

When to go

September through November is the sweet spot: dry, warm, and priced well below the peak. This is also when the private-pool categories are actually available – the rates quoted above come from shoulder-season dates.

December through February is Brazilian summer and Trancoso's high season. The Quadrado fills, rates climb steeply, and with three hotels sharing a handful of pool units between them, this is the window that sells out first. March through May still works, with warm sea and thinning crowds, while June through August brings the wettest, coolest stretch and the lowest rates.

Trancoso is reached via Porto Seguro Airport (BPS), about an hour away by road and ferry, or the small Terravista airstrip roughly 7 km from town. Itacaré, for Txai, is closer to Ilhéus Airport (IOS), about 1.5–2 hours by road.
