Bahia's boutique south coast has three confirmed hotels where a genuine private pool comes with the casa, villa or bungalow. UXUA Casa Hotel & Spa and Etnia Casa Hotel, both set around Trancoso's historic Quadrado, and Txai Resort, a few hours south along the coast in Itacaré, are the three confirmed exceptions.

UXUA Casa Hotel & Spa
UXUA Casa Hotel & Spa occupies a cluster of restored 19th-century fishermen's houses just off Trancoso's Quadrado, Bahia's most famous colonial square. Several of its 10 individually designed casas carry a confirmed private swimming pool, from a 4-bedroom villa with a 15 sqm pool and alfresco dining area to the smaller Eugênia casa, with a pool shaped from local stones.
This is the highest-rated confirmed private-pool stay on Bahia's south coast, and its Quadrado-adjacent setting puts Trancoso's restaurants and beaches within walking distance.
Etnia Casa Hotel
Etnia Casa Hotel, also set around Trancoso's Quadrado, is built from individually themed bungalows and casas – styles range from Goa to Morocco – and its confirmed villa category has a private entrance, separate living room and bedroom, and its own pool with a view over the grounds.
This is the most accessible confirmed private-pool stay in Trancoso, at roughly two-thirds the rate of UXUA, while sitting in the same walkable distance to the Quadrado and the beach.
Txai Resort
Txai Resort, a Relais & Châteaux property a few hours south of Trancoso near Itacaré, sets its most private bungalows on a forested hillside, each on stilts with a private pool, balcony and sweeping views over the sea and surrounding Atlantic forest. This is a genuinely different setting from Trancoso's village-square casas – closer to Itacaré's surf beaches and rainforest trails than Trancoso's colonial center.
Guests consistently rate the resort among the strongest in this guide, making it a worthwhile detour if the itinerary allows for both towns, or a standalone destination for travelers prioritizing Itacaré over Trancoso.
When to go
September through March is the most reliable window for a private-pool stay on Bahia's south coast: warm, mostly dry weather, with December–February also the busiest and most expensive as Brazilian summer holidaymakers arrive. April–August brings more rain and quieter, better-value rates, though tropical showers can interrupt beach days. Trancoso is reached via Porto Seguro Airport (BPS), about 30–40 minutes by road and ferry; Itacaré is closer to Ilhéus Airport (IOS), roughly 1.5–2 hours away. The two towns themselves are a few hours apart along the coast, so this guide works best as either two separate trips or one longer Bahia itinerary.
