The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman

The Ritz-Carlton runs 144 acres in the middle of Seven Mile Beach, and its private-pool collection is 14 contemporary plantation-style villas, each with a generous terrace and its own plunge pool looking over the lagoon and the golf course. The 5-Bedroom Deckhouse is the tier above: a larger private pool, a sandy beach area, and a private dock for charter boat pickup – nothing else on the island offers that.

The resort behind the villas is genuinely large. Kimpton Seafire Resort and Spa

Kimpton Seafire is the better-value half of a two-hotel island, and it's also the higher-rated one. Forbes Travel Guide named it a Five-Star hotel for the third consecutive year in its 2025 Star Awards, and the spa holds a separate Five-Star rating of its own. Most resorts never get one.

The private-pool category is the 2-Bedroom Oceanfront Bungalow: a standalone unit with its own pool, a full kitchen and a dining room seating six, steps from the sand. The bungalows hold six suites in total across three buildings, so this is a small, fixed inventory rather than a room type you can expect to find open.

The resort opened in November 2016 as Grand Cayman's first new resort development in more than a decade, which is why it reads more contemporary than its neighbor – open-air architecture, water views from nearly every room, sitting at the quieter top end of Seven Mile Beach. The short list isn't about the island's wealth. Grand Cayman has plenty of both money and coastline. It's about who owns the inventory.

December through April is the dry season and the best window: low humidity, minimal rain and calm water along Seven Mile Beach. It's also peak, and peak bites unusually hard here – 14 villas and six bungalow suites is the whole supply, so book 60–90 days ahead for winter dates rather than assuming something opens up.

May, June and November give a better rate for similar weather. June through November is hurricane season, with the highest risk in September.
