Montenegro has two confirmed ultra-luxury properties with a genuine private pool, not a shared resort pool: One&Only Portonovi's 10 standalone villas on the Bay of Kotor, each with its own pool and private dock, and Aman Sveti Stefan's Sveti Stefan Suite, on the historic island village that reopened in July 2026 after a five-year closure.

One&Only Portonovi
One&Only Portonovi, on the UNESCO-listed Bay of Kotor near Herceg-Novi, has 10 standalone villas – Villa One and Villa Two at two to three bedrooms, plus three larger Signature Villas – each roughly 2,300 sqft with its own blooming garden, private swimming pool, hydrotherapy pool, private bar and private dock onto the bay.
This is the highest-rated confirmed private-pool hotel in Montenegro, with the resort's Chenot Espace wellness center, fine dining and private marina available alongside each villa's own pool.
Aman Sveti Stefan
Aman Sveti Stefan occupies a 15th-century fortified fishing village on its own tidal island, connected to the mainland by a narrow causeway – one of the most photographed stretches of coastline in the Adriatic. The island reopened on July 1, 2026, after a five-year closure, alongside the adjoining Villa Miločer on the mainland, which reopened in May 2026.
The confirmed Sveti Stefan Suite, the resort's largest, has its own private pool alongside a separate living room, dining area and steam room, built inside one of the restored stone cottages that make up the historic village.
When to go
May–June and September are Montenegro's best shoulder-season months on the Adriatic: warm enough for daily pool use, without July–August's peak heat, cruise-ship crowds and prices along the Bay of Kotor. Winter is mild but too cool for most travelers to prioritize a private pool. Tivat Airport (TIV) is the closest gateway, roughly 15–40 minutes from both hotels in this guide depending on traffic along the bay's coastal road.
