Phu Quoc sells the cheapest real private-pool villas in Southeast Asia – from around $248 a night for a villa with a pool nobody else uses. The catch is that the international brands every roundup names are the wrong way in: their villas either aren't sold through the booking engines or aren't villas at all. Four resorts deliver, and New World Phu Quoc is where to start.

Those are entry rates for a genuine private-pool villa outside the Tet peak. JW Marriott, InterContinental and Radisson Blu are not on this list, and the section below explains exactly why for each – it is not that they're bad hotels. The private pool villas hub runs the same test elsewhere.
Which Phu Quoc resort should you book?
Book New World Phu Quoc Resort. Every category it sells is a Pool Villa – Garden, Premium and Grand, in one-, two- and three-bedroom sizes – so there is no way to book the wrong room, and its Garden Pool Villa – 1 Bedroom at around 85 m² opens near $248, the lowest genuine private-pool rate on the island. Check New World availability – round-trip airport transfers and water-park access are included in the rate.
If you want a one-bedroom villa on a beachfront property, book Mövenpick Villas & Residences. If the guest rating matters most, book Andochine – but read its Jacuzzi warning below first. For three bedrooms or more, book Premier Village, which sells nothing smaller.

Andochine's Booking listing is titled "All Villas with Private Pool". It isn't true: its 2 Bedroom and 3 Bedroom Villa with Jacuzzi categories have no private pool, and Booking flags them pool-view only. A property name is marketing; the room category is the contract.
New World Phu Quoc Resort
The cleanest booking on the island. New World sits at Cape St Jacques on the southwest coast, and every accommodation it sells is a pool villa – there is no room category on the page at all.
The ladder starts with the Garden Pool Villa – 1 Bedroom at around 85 m² from roughly $248, then runs through the Garden Pool Villa – 2 and 3 Bedrooms (103 and 125 m²), the Premium Pool Villa in one-, two- and three-bedroom sizes up to 260 m², and the Grand Pool Villa at around 298 m². Rates scale far more gently than the square meters do.
Two things included that usually aren't: round-trip airport transfers and access to the adjacent water park. On an island where every resort is a 15–40 minute drive from the airport, the first matters.
Its guest rating is the lowest of the four here, though it rests on the deepest review base – read that as consistency rather than a warning.

Movenpick Villas and Residences Phu Quoc
The most flexible ladder, and the one to pick if you want one bedroom on a full beachfront resort. Mövenpick sits on Long Beach in Duong To, a short drive from the airport and the closest of these four to Duong Dong town.
Five categories have a private pool: the One-Bedroom Villa with Private Pool and Lake View at around 125 m² from roughly $298, the Two- and Three-Bedroom versions of the same, the Family Three Bedroom Duplex Villa with Private Pool at around 274 m², and the Three-Bedroom Beach Front Villa with Private Pool at around 217 m² – roughly double the entry rate for the beach position.
The rest of the property is studios and apartments. Watch for the Studio King Room with Balcony and Pool Access, which is a shared-pool room in the usual disguise, and the Two-Bedroom Family Studio with Sea View, which also has no pool of its own.

Andochine Villas Resort and Spa
The best-rated property in this guide, and the one that most needs its room list read. Andochine is a villa-only resort on Long Beach, and its Booking.com listing is literally titled "All Villas with Private Pool" – which is not accurate.
Four categories genuinely have one: the 1 Bedroom Villa with Private Pool at around 82 m² from roughly $327, the 3 bedroom Villa with Private Pool at around 308 m², the 4 Bedroom Villa with Private Pool at the same footprint, and the 3 bedroom Beachfront Villa with Private Pool at around 340 m².
The 2 Bedroom Villa with Jacuzzi and 3 Bedroom Villa with Jacuzzi do not. Booking's own room facilities list them as pool-view, and the 2-bedroom Jacuzzi villa is priced above the 1-bedroom pool villa – so the natural upgrade path takes the pool away from you.
Book this one if you want the strongest guest rating here and you buy a category with "Private Pool" spelled out. Check Andochine rates.
Premier Village Phu Quoc Resort
The group answer, on Ong Doi Cape at the island's southern tip, with beaches on both sides and a multi-level pool linking them. Managed by Accor, and it carries the highest guest rating of the four.
Seven categories, all with a private pool and all three bedrooms or larger: the 3 bedroom Garden Villa with Private Pool at around 349 m² from roughly $522, the Three-Bedroom Ocean Villa, the Eden Retreat Pool Villa with spa inclusive, the 4 bedroom Ocean Villa at around 450 m², the Three-Bedroom Beachfront Villa, the Four-Bedroom On the Rock Pool Villa at around 621 m², and the Five-Bedroom Water Retreat Pool Villa at around 799 m².
Correct one thing before you compare rates: there is no one- or two-bedroom option here. Earlier versions of this guide called Premier Village the island's value pick on a sub-$300 entry rate. It isn't – the cheapest thing it sells is a three-bedroom villa. Split across six people it is excellent value; for a couple it is the wrong resort.

Why JW Marriott, InterContinental and Radisson Blu aren't ranked
All three appeared in earlier versions of this guide. Each was re-checked at room level, and each fails for a different reason worth knowing.
JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay has the private-pool villas – One-Bedroom Villa, Garden View, Private Pool, a three-bedroom version, and the seven-bedroom Lamarck House Presidential Villa – confirmed in Booking's own room inventory. But across eight checks at different dates and party sizes, not one villa category returned a bookable rate, while its Emerald Bay Rooms and Turquoise Suite sold freely from around $575. It is a Marriott Bonvoy property, so booking direct is the sensible route anyway – you'll earn points and actually reach the villa inventory.
InterContinental Phu Quoc Long Beach sells fifteen categories on Booking.com and not one of them is a villa. Its 3-Bedroom Villa and 4-Bedroom Oceanfront Pool Club Villa are real – IHG's own site describes the private pool and garden, plus Club InterContinental access – but they are not distributed through the agency listing at all. Book those through IHG directly.
Radisson Blu Resort Phu Quoc lists a Two-Bedroom Villa and Three-Bedroom Villa that do carry a private-pool flag, but they surfaced on only one of four date checks and at rates that didn't hold up. Everything it reliably sells – Deluxe Rooms, Suites, the One-Bedroom Apartment – has no private pool, and one is a Deluxe Room with Pool View.
The pattern across all three: a private-pool villa that a booking engine won't sell you is not a booking option, however real the villa is.
Why Phu Quoc is the value play
Phu Quoc's private-pool economics are unlike anywhere else in this silo. A one-bedroom villa with its own pool starts around $248 here – roughly what a non-pool room costs at the island's branded resorts, and a fraction of the equivalent in Bali or the Maldives.
The reason is supply. Phu Quoc built fast and built villas, so pool villas are ordinary inventory rather than a scarce top tier. That is why New World can sell nothing else, and why Premier Village's smallest unit has three bedrooms.
What you trade is polish and, at some properties, maturity – ratings here cluster in the high 8s rather than the mid 9s you'd see for the same money in Thailand. Read that as the honest price of the discount.

When to go
November through March is the dry season and the window worth booking: low humidity, minimal rain, and calm water for the An Thoi archipelago boat trips.
It is also the peak. Rates climb hardest around the winter holidays and Vietnamese Tet, the Lunar New Year, when the island fills with domestic travelers as well as international ones – book villa categories 60 to 90 days out for those dates.
April and May are the value window, still dry and noticeably cheaper, before the June to October rainy season brings afternoon downpours that usually clear within an hour or two. In a private-pool villa the wet months cost you less than they would elsewhere, and rates fall sharply.
Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC) serves the whole island with transfers of roughly 15 to 40 minutes. New World includes the transfer in its rate, which the others generally don't.
