Best Beachfront Resorts in Amelia Island, FL (2026)

Updated July 24, 20262 min read

Amelia Island has only two hotels that stand directly on its beach – the Ritz-Carlton and the Omni Amelia Island Resort & Spa – and that short list is the point, not a gap in the research. Low-density zoning and a barrier-island geography have kept the rest of the island's oceanfront as private homes, condos and vacation cottages rather than resort hotels.

Best Overall

The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island

4750 Amelia Island Pkwy, Fernandina Beachfrom from $399/night
Oceanfront rooms and suites with furnished balconies

The Ritz-Carlton sits directly on Amelia Island's Atlantic beach, with furnished balconies on most rooms and a 25,000 sq ft spa built around the oceanfront – one of the largest resort spas on Florida's northeast coast. Five restaurants cover everything from a casual pool grill to a formal dining room.

It is the more expensive of the island's two beachfront resorts by a wide margin, and consistently the higher-rated. For a quiet, adult-leaning luxury stay where the beach itself is only one of several draws, this is the pick; the golf and spa crowd both skew toward this property over the Omni.

Consistently the highest-rated beachfront hotel on the island
25,000 sq ft oceanfront spa with 25 treatment rooms
Five on-site restaurants, from casual to fine dining
Rates run well above the island's other oceanfront option
Fernandina Beach's historic downtown is a drive, not a walk
Books out 2–3 weeks ahead for summer weekends

Omni Amelia Island Resort & Spa

39 Beach Lagoon Rd, Fernandina Beachfrom from $299/night
Oceanfront rooms, part of a 1,350-acre resort

The Omni spreads across 1,350 acres of the island, with 155 of its rooms directly oceanfront and the rest set back among the resort's 36 holes of golf, indoor and outdoor pools, and a dozen dining options. A 2024 pool-deck renovation kept the amenities current.

It runs noticeably cheaper than the Ritz-Carlton at a similar level of resort infrastructure, and its size and kids' summer camp make it the more family-friendly of the island's two beachfront options. Book the oceanfront room category specifically – much of the resort's inventory faces the golf course or lagoon instead.

When to go

March through May and September through November are the sweet spot – warm enough to swim, without the heaviest summer humidity or the hurricane-season risk that peaks in late August and September. June through August brings the warmest water of the year but also the most humidity and the highest rates at both resorts. Book the oceanfront room category specifically at either hotel; both properties have a meaningful share of rooms facing golf courses, lagoons or gardens instead of the Atlantic.

For a similarly low-density, historic barrier-island beach town further north, see beachfront resorts in Hilton Head Island; for the Atlantic coast's boardwalk-driven beach towns instead, see beachfront resorts in Virginia Beach.
