The UAE has two confirmed overwater resorts, both run by Anantara: 18 Over Water Villas with glass-floor panels on Dubai's Palm Jumeirah, and a newer, larger collection of Over-Water Pool Villas – complete with private pools – at Anantara Mina Al Arab in Ras Al Khaimah.

Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort
Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort has 18 Over Water Villas built on stilts off Palm Jumeirah, the only genuine overwater accommodation in the city. Each villa has a glass floor panel that opens onto the Arabian Gulf below, along with a private terrace, dual vanity basins, and a separate tub and rain shower.
There's no private plunge pool on the deck here – the standout feature is the glass floor and direct water setting rather than a pool of your own. For travelers who specifically want a private pool with their overwater villa, Ras Al Khaimah's Anantara property is the better fit.
Anantara Mina Al Arab Ras Al Khaimah Resort
Anantara Mina Al Arab's Over-Water Pool Villas are the newer, larger of the UAE's two overwater collections, and the only ones in the country with a private pool built into the terrace. The resort describes them as the emirate's first overwater villas, part of a wider 174-room property that includes One-Bedroom and Two-Bedroom villa tiers, up to the Two-Bedroom Royal Over-Water Pool Villa.
Ras Al Khaimah sits about 75 minutes north of Dubai by road, with its own smaller international airport. It's a quieter, less internationally established destination than Palm Jumeirah, which shows up in the rate: a comparable Anantara over-water category costs meaningfully less here than in Dubai.
When to go
The UAE's most comfortable window for an overwater stay is November to March, when daytime temperatures sit in the low-to-mid 20s°C (70s°F) and humidity drops from the summer peak. December and January are the busiest and most expensive months, coinciding with UAE and European winter holidays.
June to September brings extreme heat (often 40°C/104°F or higher) and high humidity – manageable with resort pools and air conditioning, but not ideal for a villa built for outdoor terrace time. Shoulder months (April–May and October) offer a reasonable compromise between price and comfort.
