Song Saa Private Island
Song Saa Private Island is built across two small islands – Koh Ouen and Koh Bong – connected by a footbridge in Cambodia's Koh Rong Archipelago. Between them, the resort has 27 villas: 18 Jungle and Beach Villas set into the forest or along the shoreline, plus 9 Overwater Villas built on stilts above the Gulf of Thailand, each with its own 26m² private pool.
The entry-level Jungle and Beach Villas put guests closest to the resort's restaurants and the surrounding rainforest, without a private pool. Travelers who specifically want a pool with their villa need the Overwater category, which roughly doubles the nightly rate but adds direct water access alongside the pool itself.
Song Saa also runs a marine conservation program that manages a protected reserve around the resort, shaping much of the on-water activity list – guided snorkeling and diving trips stay within the sanctuary the resort itself maintains, rather than ranging freely around the wider archipelago.
When to go
Cambodia's coast has a clear dry season from November to April, with the calmest, driest conditions from December to February – the best window for a two-island resort where boat transfers and calm water matter for getting around.
The wet season (May to October) brings heavier afternoon rain and rougher seas, especially during the peak of the southwest monsoon in July and August, though mornings often stay clear and rates drop meaningfully in this window.
