Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort
Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort, on the southern end of Bazaruto Island within Bazaruto Archipelago National Park, confirms 22 villas with their own private plunge pool – the Beach Pool Villa and the larger Two Bedroom Anantara Pool Villa – each with a veranda and sun loungers facing the ocean, distinct from the resort's separate adults-only and all-ages shared pools.
This is the more accessible of the two confirmed Bazaruto Archipelago properties, bookable directly on Booking.com rather than requiring a direct-booking-only arrangement.
Azura Benguerra Island
Azura Benguerra Island, on its own island in the Bazaruto Archipelago, confirms a private pool in all 18 of its villas, scaling from a 5-meter plunge pool in the entry Beach Villa up to a 10-meter fully tiled pool in the Royal Beach Villa, plus a 2-bedroom Villa Amizade and a Presidential Villa for larger groups.
Guests typically fly into Vilanculos from Johannesburg or Maputo, then take a short helicopter transfer directly to the lodge – one of the more remote confirmed private-pool stays in this guide.
When to go
April through November is the Bazaruto Archipelago's dry season, with the calmest seas for boat and helicopter transfers and the best visibility for diving and snorkeling on the surrounding reefs. December–March is the wet season and coincides with the Indian Ocean cyclone season, which can disrupt transfers to both islands. Vilanculos Airport (VNX) is the mainland gateway, connecting onward by boat to Anantara Bazaruto or helicopter to Azura Benguerra.
