An $11 marine park fee is cash per person on arrival on every reef trip ($13 on the Atlantis sub, $12 on the certified 2-tank dive). The sixth option, Chankanaab park (from ~$33), is a shore-entry beach park – you walk in off the sand to the reef and a pair of submerged statues, no boat at all. High season is December to April; book morning slots on cruise-ship days.
Water activities in Cozumel
It is one of the best places in the Caribbean for both. Cozumel sits on the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef and the water off its sheltered west coast is unusually clear – visibility past 30 m is normal. Diving here is the reference point for Caribbean drift diving. The catch for snorkelers is that the reef is offshore, so you need a boat – shore snorkeling from the island beaches is thin, apart from Chankanaab park.
