Adults-Only Resorts in Florida: One All-Inclusive, and Five Kid-Free Stays

Updated October 30, 20268 min read

Florida has one adults-only all-inclusive resort that we could find: Bungalows Key Largo, 21 and over, with meals, premium drinks and kayaks in the rate. Everything else that passes our test is room-only and small – an inn on Destin's beach, a studio resort on the Gulf, a spa hotel in Miami Beach. Want sand and silence more than a meal plan? Book Henderson Park Inn, where every guest is 25 or older.

Those are approximate nightly rates for two, before tax, with any resort fee included. Only Bungalows includes meals. All six were selling rooms when we checked, and all six exclude children across the whole property – not just a wing or a pool. The adults-only resorts hub applies the same test in other destinations.

Which adults-only resort in Florida should you book?

For an all-inclusive, book Bungalows Key Largo. We found no other resort in Florida that sells a full meal-and-drinks plan to adults only. Check Bungalows Key Largo availability before you compare further – winter is high season in the Keys.

For a real beach, book Henderson Park Inn. It sits on the white sand of Destin, next to a state park, and nobody under 25 checks in.

Bungalows Key Largo

The all-inclusive answer. Bungalows Key Largo is a resort of stand-alone bungalows in a botanical garden, on the bay side of Key Largo at Mile Marker 99. All guests must be 21 or older, and ID is checked at arrival.

The plan is the full Caribbean format. Meals at five restaurants, premium drinks and select wine and beer are included. So are kayaks, paddleboards, snorkel gear, yoga and bikes. There is no resort fee.

Some things cost extra:

  • Gratuities, the spa and in-room dining
  • Boat excursions and off-property trips
  • Bogie & Bacall's, the fine-dining room, for stays under four nights (one dinner there is included from four nights)

It's on the water, on the bay side. The resort describes 1,000 feet of shoreline with two beaches, Coconut Beach and Tranquility Beach, and Booking.com lists it as beachfront with a private beach. Expect bay water, not surf. Every bungalow has a private veranda with a soaking tub and an outdoor shower.

From around $1,100 a night for two, all-inclusive. Book this one if you want the Caribbean all-inclusive format without leaving the US. Check Bungalows Key Largo rates.

Henderson Park Inn

The beach booking. The Henderson Park Inn sits on the sand in Destin, beside Henderson Beach State Park and its mile of undeveloped beach. Every guest must be 25 or older.

It's an inn, not a pool resort. Guests use the pools at the sister property, Henderson Beach Resort: a family pool, plus an adults-only upper-deck pool and hot tub. The inn's own restaurant, the Beach Walk Cafe, sits by the sand.

Two nightly charges cover most extras. A resort fee pays for the pools, paddleboards, kayaks and parking. A 5% service fee pays for a daily happy hour, all-day snacks, beach chairs, umbrellas and bikes. Breakfast is charged separately on the basic Booking.com rate.

From around $580 a night. Book this one if the beach matters more than the pool. Check Henderson Park Inn rates. For Destin's other beachfront hotels, see beachfront resorts in Destin.

Shoreline Island Resort

The Gulf Coast value pick. Shoreline Island Resort – Exclusively Adult is a family-owned, 21-and-over resort directly on the Gulf of Mexico in Madeira Beach. Booking.com files it under St. Pete Beach. The address is Madeira Beach, on Gulf Boulevard.

Every studio and suite has a full kitchen. There is a heated outdoor pool, a fitness center, a shuffleboard court and a private beach area. John's Pass Village and Boardwalk is about 1.8 km away.

It's the lowest rate on this list, from around $210 a night. Book this one if you want Gulf sunsets and your own kitchen for less. Check Shoreline Island Resort rates. Nearby, beachfront resorts in Clearwater Beach covers the bigger hotels up the coast.

Kona Kai Resort

The quiet Keys booking. Kona Kai Resort has 14 rooms and suites in a botanical garden in Key Largo, with an art gallery on site. Guests must be 18 to check in, and Booking.com lists it as adults-only with no children allowed.

The beach is private: a strip of sand with hammocks, a pier, and access for swimming or kayaking. There is a heated outdoor pool and a hot tub. Massages are available.

Know what's missing before you book. There is no restaurant, no bar and no breakfast. The suites have full kitchens. The rooms don't even have a microwave.

From around $285 a night. Book this one if you want the Keys at their quietest and you'll eat out. Check Kona Kai Resort rates.

H2O Suites

The Key West booking. H2O Suites is an all-suite hotel for guests 25 and over in Old Town, about 200 m from Duval Street. It isn't on the beach, but the daily resort fee covers chairs, towels and an umbrella at Southernmost Beach.

The pools make up for it. A heated rooftop pool has its own bar, and the same fee covers a daily happy hour there. Two suite categories, the Deluxe Luxury Suite with Personal Plunge Pool and the Premiere Luxury Suite with Personal Plunge Pool, come with a plunge pool of your own.

From around $510 a night for a balcony suite. The plunge-pool suites start higher, at around $680. Book this one if you want Key West's bars at night and a private pool by day. Check H2O Suites rates. For hotels on the water itself, see beachfront resorts in Key West.

The Standard Spa, Miami Beach

The spa booking. The Standard calls itself "less a 'hotel,' and more an adults-only spa with guest rooms." No children are allowed, and you must be 21 to check in.

The spa is the point. A Turkish hamam, sauna, steam room, hot tub and cold plunge are free for hotel guests. Treatments such as massages cost extra. There is a heated infinity pool with a bar, plus paddleboards, kayaks and a private dock.

It sits on Belle Isle, facing Biscayne Bay. South Beach is a short drive away, not out the door. From around $365 a night. Book this one if you want Miami's restaurants with a spa day in between. Check The Standard Spa rates. For the ocean side, see beachfront resorts in Miami Beach.

Little Palm Island and Casa Morada: adults-only, but not in the table

Little Palm Island Resort & Spa is the big-ticket option. It's a private island off Little Torch Key in the Lower Keys, reached only by boat or seaplane. No one under 18 is allowed on the island, and you must be 21 to check in. Its 30 thatched-roof bungalow suites cap the island at 60 guests.

Two things to know. It isn't all-inclusive: food and drink are charged separately, and a percentage resort fee is added to the room rate. And its own site says the shoreline is seagrass and mangrove, not a white-sand swimming beach. Rates start around $1,500 a night. We couldn't find it on Booking.com or Expedia, so book through Little Palm Island's own site.

Casa Morada in Islamorada welcomes guests 16 and over, and pets. When we checked, it was in the middle of a phased renovation that folds the former Sunset Inn, across Madeira Road, into the hotel. Which building your room is in changes the stay, so we leave it out of the table. Check Casa Morada rates if you want Islamorada.

Key West's adults-only guesthouses

Most of the "adults only" results for Florida are Key West guesthouses. Orchid Key Inn, Marrero's Guest Mansion, L'Habitation Guesthouse and Key West Harbor Inn are listed on Booking.com as 21 and over, with no children. Marrero's and L'Habitation raise the minimum to 25 at spring break.

They're small inns, not resorts. Book one for Old Town on foot, not for a beach. H2O Suites is the resort-style version.

Adults-only pool, family resort: the ones that only look kid-free

Several names that come up in adults-only searches take children. Each has an adults-only part, which is real, but you'll share the resort with families.

  • Three Waters Resort and Marina (Islamorada): Marriott calls The Cove "an adults-only resort within a resort," with its own lagoon, pool and beach. The rest of the resort is for everyone.
  • JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort: Paradise by Sirene is a 21-and-over section inside the larger beach resort.
  • Grassy Flats Resort & Beach Club (Marathon): some room types are sold as adults-only, but Booking.com says children of all ages are welcome.
  • Eau Palm Beach (Manalapan) and Acqualina (Sunny Isles Beach): adults-only pools, plus kids' clubs.
The fine print

Booking-site "adults only" filters mix in family resorts. Check the house rules for "children not allowed" or a property-wide minimum age, not an adults-only pool or wing.

Want a real all-inclusive? Fly south

All-inclusive resorts are rare in Florida. Isla Bella Beach Resort in Marathon sells an all-inclusive dining package on direct bookings, but children stay there. Club Med Sandpiper Bay in Port St. Lucie was listed as closed on Club Med's own site when we checked.

For a choice of adults-only all-inclusives, the Caribbean is a short flight away. See adults-only resorts in Jamaica, Cancun, Punta Cana and the Bahamas, the closest of the four to Miami.

The short version

Bungalows Key Largo is the only adults-only all-inclusive we found in Florida, and the one we'd book first. Henderson Park Inn is the pick when the beach comes before the bar.

All-inclusive: Bungalows Key Largo. Beach first: Henderson Park Inn. Lowest rate: Shoreline Island Resort.

When to go

Winter and early spring are high season, especially in the Keys and South Florida, and rates follow. South Florida's rainy season runs roughly from late May to mid-October.

The Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November. In the Keys and South Florida that's also the low season, with lower rates. If you book in that window, take a refundable rate.

The Panhandle works the other way. Summer is its busy season, and winter there runs cooler than in the Keys. For a Destin beach day, spring and early fall are the safer bet. Florida's other water stays: overwater bungalows near Florida.
