Adults-Only Resorts in the Bahamas: Three in Nassau, None on Exuma

Updated October 30, 20266 min read

The three resorts we found in the Bahamas that are adults-only across the whole property are all in Nassau. None is on Exuma or the other Out Islands. As a couple, book Sandals Bahamas Nassau, the resort older guides call Sandals Royal Bahamian: a private offshore island, swim-up butler suites, and tips, transfers and scuba already in the rate. Want the ocean beach out the door? Riu Palace Paradise Island is right on the beach on Paradise Island.

Those are approximate all-inclusive rates for two per night. Sandals' figure is its own published from-rate, which includes taxes and tips; the other two are Booking.com rates before tax. All three were selling rooms when we checked. Every other resort we checked takes children – the adults-only resorts hub runs the same test elsewhere.

The fine print

Sandals Royal Bahamian is now Sandals Bahamas Nassau. Same resort on Cable Beach, renamed by Sandals. Older guides, reviews and some booking pages may show the old name.

Which adults-only resort in the Bahamas should you book?

As a couple, book Sandals Bahamas Nassau. It's the only one of the three with its own island, and its rate covers tips, airport transfers and scuba. Check Sandals Bahamas Nassau availability before you compare further – mid-December to mid-April is peak season.

Traveling with friends, or watching the budget? Book Warwick Paradise Island. It has the lowest rate of the three, and Cabbage Beach is a free shuttle ride away.

Sandals Bahamas Nassau

The couples' booking. This is the former Sandals Royal Bahamian, on Cable Beach and about 15 minutes from Nassau's airport by Sandals' free transfer.

The rules: guests must be 18 or over. Sandals says its resorts are adults-only by policy and couples-first by design. Friends and solo travelers are welcome, but rates are based on two people sharing.

The rate covers:

  • Unlimited food and alcoholic drinks, including the minibar
  • All taxes and gratuities
  • Round-trip airport transfers
  • Scuba diving for certified divers

The island is the draw. Sandals Barefoot Cay is a short boat ride offshore, with two beaches, one for lounging and one for snorkeling. Back on Cable Beach there are seven pools and eight bars, three of them swim-up.

Two room types are worth knowing. Swim-up butler suites open onto a pool. Island Village villa suites come with a private plunge pool and a butler.

From around $325 per person a night on Sandals' own site, so about $650 for two. We couldn't find a current Booking.com listing, so the links go to Expedia. Book this one if you're a couple who wants everything, tips included, in one rate. Check Sandals Bahamas Nassau rates. The pool villas are compared in private pool villas in the Bahamas.

Riu Palace Paradise Island

The beach booking. Riu Palace Paradise Island is on the beach on Paradise Island, about 100 m from Cabbage Beach by Booking.com's count. RIU calls it an adults-only hotel. Booking.com lists a minimum check-in age of 18 and no children.

RIU runs it as a 24-hour all-inclusive. There are six restaurants and three bars, a swim-up bar at the pool, two infinity pools, a spa and a 24-hour gym. The RIU Party program runs here, so it isn't the quiet option.

From around $1,070 a night for two on Booking.com, which offered it only for stays of three nights or more when we checked. Book this one if you want open ocean in front of you and food and drinks around the clock. Check Riu Palace Paradise Island rates.

Warwick Paradise Island Bahamas

The value and friends' booking. Warwick's own policy: adults only, no guests under 16. Whoever books must be 18, and Booking.com lists 21 as the check-in age.

It sits on 16 acres on Paradise Island's south shore, facing Nassau Harbor, not the open ocean. Its private beach is on the harbor. For the big ocean beach, a free shuttle runs to Cabbage Beach every 30 minutes from 10:00 to 16:00, about 10 minutes each way. Another shuttle goes to the Atlantis casino each night.

Warwick's plan covers meals, snacks and drinks, alcoholic and not, across five restaurants and two bars, plus activities. Warwick doesn't offer airport transfers.

From around $480 a night for two, with Booking.com's destination charge included. Book this one if you're friends traveling together, or you want an all-inclusive for less. Check Warwick Paradise Island rates.

Is there an adults-only resort on Exuma?

No, not one we could find. Sandals Emerald Bay, Exuma's adults-only resort, closed in August 2024 to be rebuilt as Beaches Exuma. Beaches is Sandals' family brand.

The Exuma hotels on Booking.com that we checked, Hideaways Exuma and Peace and Plenty among them, take children. Fowl Cay, a private-island resort in the Exuma Cays, includes food, drinks and a boat, but it welcomes families.

Our advice: base yourself at one of the Nassau three. Exuma is a short flight from Nassau.

Adults-only pool, family resort: the names that only look kid-free

Several big names show up in adults-only searches. They all take children.

  • Breezes Bahamas (Cable Beach): all-inclusive, but it welcomes families with children 14 and over.
  • The Cove at Atlantis (Paradise Island): an adults-only pool area, the Cove Pool, inside a hotel that takes children of all ages.
  • The Ocean Club, A Four Seasons Resort, Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, Rosewood Baha Mar and Pink Sands (Harbour Island): children of all ages are welcome.
  • Club Med Columbus Isle (San Salvador): all-inclusive, with family programs. Club Med Turkoise, in Turks and Caicos, is the adults-only one.

There is no Secrets, Breathless or other Hyatt Inclusive Collection resort in the Bahamas that we could find.

Bahamas, Jamaica or Turks and Caicos?

Pick the Bahamas for the short flight. Nassau is the closest of the three to Florida, and you get three adults-only all-inclusives, two of them on Paradise Island.

Pick Jamaica for choice. It has many more adults-only resorts, couples-only ones included. See adults-only resorts in Jamaica.

Pick Turks and Caicos for Grace Bay. Club Med Turkoise is an adults-only all-inclusive on that beach. See beachfront resorts in Turks and Caicos and private pool villas in Turks and Caicos.

For safety, read the U.S. State Department's travel advisory page for each country on travel.state.gov before you book. Advisory levels change, so we don't quote them here.

The short version

Sandals Bahamas Nassau is the one we'd book first as a couple. Warwick is the pick for friends and for the lowest rate.

Couples: Sandals Bahamas Nassau. Ocean beach: Riu Palace Paradise Island. Friends or budget: Warwick Paradise Island.

When to go

Mid-December to mid-April is peak season, by Sandals' own count, and the priciest. June to November is the low season.

That low season is also the Atlantic hurricane season, which runs June through November. If you book then, take a refundable rate.
