Jade Mountain, St Lucia

Jade Mountain is the reason this page opens where it does. Built into the hillside above Soufrière on St Lucia's west coast, its sanctuaries have three walls and no fourth – the room simply stops, and the infinity pool runs out toward the Pitons, the twin volcanic peaks that make up a UNESCO World Heritage site. Hotel Le Toiny, St Barts

Le Toiny solves the problem the warning above describes by not having a second option. Every villa category at the property includes a private pool, with no entry room that lacks one – there is no ladder to climb, no name to decode, and no confirmation email to re-read. It is a small all-villa property with no standard hotel rooms at all, adults-only, on a hillside above Anse de Toiny on St Barts' quieter east coast.

The one thing to budget separately: St Barts is a French overseas collectivity and prices in euros rather than US dollars, so the €2,000 entry is not directly comparable with the dollar figures on the rest of this page and will move with the exchange rate as well as the season.

Amanyara is Aman's Turks & Caicos property, on the quiet Northwest Point of Providenciales rather than the Grace Bay strip, and it has the widest span of private-pool unit sizes on this page: every category from the entry Pool Pavilion up to a six-bedroom villa comes with a private pool. That range is why it is the group answer – one booking can cover two people or twelve without anyone losing their own water.

There is a genuine 2026 update worth knowing before you compare photographs. A renovation this year reworked the communal spaces – reception, the restaurants and the Beach Club – along with three named villas: Villa 14, which gained a private yoga pavilion, Villa 8, and the Artists Villa. Coral Reef Club is the only property on this page that is not part of a global luxury group. It is family-run, a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, and it sits on Barbados' calm, west-facing Platinum Coast at Saint James. The private pool lives in one named category, the Luxury Plantation Suite, with its own plunge pool – so this is a book-by-name property rather than a whole-property guarantee.

What Barbados adds is access. Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI) has the most direct long-haul service of the five islands here, from both London and the US East Coast, and sits 25–40 minutes from the Platinum Coast – no island-hopping connection, no charter, no ferry. For a one-week trip, that can be worth more than a larger pool.
