Which Parga villa should you book?

Book Elais Luxury Villas. Its One-Bedroom Villa is the cheapest confirmed private pool in Parga at around €109, and it is the only property here whose rating rests on a substantial review base rather than a handful of stays. Both its categories – the one-bedroom at around 40 m² and the Two-Bedroom Villa at around 99 m² – have a pool of their own. Check Elais availability – it is a three-villa property, so dates go quickly.

If the building matters more than the rate, book Villa Nevas – a restored stone house with an infinity pool. For three bedrooms, book Meliora. For the most floor space and a countryside setting, book River Villas Parga.

Elais Luxury Villas

The clear pick, and the one that changes this list. Elais sits near Valtos Beach, about 2.6 km out, with the Castle of Parga a few minutes' drive and the Anthousa waterfall a short walk away. It is quiet, set back from the town, and built around an infinity pool and sun terrace.

Two categories, both with a private pool: the One-Bedroom Villa at around 40 m² from roughly €109, and the Two-Bedroom Villa at around 99 m² with three bathrooms, a full kitchen and a hot tub. Expedia's listing independently describes the property as three accommodations with private pools, and rooms opening onto furnished lanais.

The number that matters is the review count. Elais has a deeper review base than the other three properties here combined, and still holds a near-perfect score – that is a different quality of evidence from a 10 built on five stays.

Villa Nevas

The architecture pick. Villa Nevas is a restored Epirus stone house sitting between Valtos and Lichnos beaches, with a modern infinity pool cut into the terrace and sea views over the Ionian – a genuinely different object from the white-render villas that make up the rest of this market.

One category, the Villa with Private Pool, around 69 m², from roughly €242 outside peak. Fully equipped kitchen, sun terrace and garden; the pool is exclusive to the booking because the booking is the whole house.

The honest caveat is the evidence. Its perfect rating rests on a very small number of stays, which tells you nobody has had a bad trip yet rather than that the property is proven. Availability is also the thinnest here – it returned no bookable dates on most of the periods checked.

Meliora Exclusive Villas Parga

The family option, and the one with a name change to know about. This property now trades as Meliora Exclusive Villas Parga; it was Merelia Exclusive Villas until recently, and Booking.com still serves it from the old merelia address. That is normal – Booking keeps the original URL after a rebrand – so an old link still works and is not broken.

The single category is a Three-Bedroom Villa at around 129 m², from roughly €337, built around an infinity pool and sun terrace in a landscaped garden. Three bedrooms and three bathrooms make it the practical choice for a family or two couples, which nothing else in Parga at this size offers.

It sits about 1.4 km from Nisaki Panagia and 1.6 km from Piso Krioneri Beach, with Aktion Airport around 68 km away.

River Villas Parga

The most floor space on this list and the most rural setting – Chrisogiali, inland from town, about 13 minutes from Valtos Beach and 2 km from the Castle of Parga, near the Kalodiki wetland and the Nekromanteion.

Two categories, both with a private pool: the Villa with Private Pool at around 95 m² from roughly €419, and the Deluxe Villa at around 129 m². Both are standalone, so the grounds as well as the pool are exclusive to the booking.

It is the highest entry rate here, and the countryside position that makes it quiet also makes a rental car non-negotiable – there is no walking to a taverna from Chrisogiali.

Panthea does not have private pools

Earlier versions of this guide listed Panthea in central Parga as a private-pool property. That was wrong, and it has been removed.

Panthea's Booking.com room list is a Superior Apartment, a Double Room with Pool View and a Deluxe Double Room with Balcony and Sea View. Its facilities list a single outdoor swimming pool as a property amenity, guest reviews describe rooms "close to the swimming pool", and no category carries a private pool. It is a well-liked small hotel in a genuinely central location – it simply isn't a private-pool stay, and "Pool View" in a category name means exactly what it says.

That is the pattern to watch across Parga. A property can be highly rated, central and lovely and still share one pool between every room – and in a market with no chain standards, the room-category name is the only reliable test.

Why Parga's market looks like this

Parga is a small Ionian town under a Venetian castle, on the Epirus mainland rather than an island. It draws mostly Greek, Italian and British repeat visitors and has never had the airlift to justify a branded resort – the nearest airport, Preveza Aktion (PVK), is about 45 minutes away and runs on charter seasons.

The consequence is that all the private-pool inventory is owner-operated. That is good for value – the cheapest confirmed private pool here is a fraction of what the same thing costs on Corfu, an hour away by ferry – and bad for availability, because there are perhaps a dozen bookable villa-nights in town on any given date.

Practically: book earlier than you would for an island, and don't assume a second option exists if your first choice is gone.

For an Ionian island with hotel-scale private-pool inventory, Corfu is the closest comparison and Kefalonia the quieter one. On the Peloponnese mainland, Costa Navarino sells private-pool rooms at resort scale. The Greece hub has every destination in the country.

When to go

May, June and September are the months to book. Warm enough for the pool, the Ionian is calm, and Valtos and Lichnos beaches are usable without the July–August crowds that fill a town this small very quickly.

July and August are the peak in every sense – Parga's population multiplies, rates roughly double on the villas above, and the single-villa supply means the good ones are gone months ahead. October cools off fast and many owner-operated properties close for the winter.

Preveza Aktion National Airport (PVK) is about 45 minutes away and is the practical gateway, though its schedule is seasonal and charter-heavy. Corfu Airport plus a ferry and a drive is the common alternative, and Ioannina is the option if you are already inland. Whichever way you come, a rental car is close to essential – three of the four villas here are outside walking distance of a restaurant.
