Puerto Rico has two confirmed hotels with a genuine private pool, not a shared resort pool: Royal Isabela's 20 freestanding casitas, every one with its own plunge-pool terrace, and Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, where select suites carry a private pool alongside the resort's own beachfront pools.

Royal Isabela
Royal Isabela sits on Puerto Rico's less-developed north coast, built around 20 freestanding casitas – roughly 1,500 sqft each, with natural wood floors, a separate living and bedroom area, and a private terrace built around its own plunge pool. Unlike most hotels in this guide, the private pool isn't reserved for a top suite tier; it comes standard with every casita.
The setting trades San Juan's convenience for a quieter stretch of coastline known for surfing and an on-site golf course, roughly 1.5–2 hours from the main airport.
Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve
Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, sits roughly 25 minutes from San Juan's Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, making it the more convenient of the two confirmed Puerto Rico properties. Select suites carry a confirmed en-suite plunge pool with ocean views, alongside the resort's own golf course, spa and beachfront pools.
This is the pricier, more convenient option of the two, with the Ritz-Carlton Reserve name attached to one of the Caribbean's more storied resort sites – the original Dorado Beach Hotel dates to 1958.
When to go
December through April is Puerto Rico's dry season and most popular window, with the lowest rainfall and calmest conditions for the north coast's beaches. May–November is quieter and cheaper, coinciding with the Atlantic hurricane season, which peaks August through October. Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) in San Juan serves the whole island: it's about 25 minutes to Dorado Beach and roughly 1.5–2 hours by road to Royal Isabela on the north coast.
