For a swim in San Juan, Isla Verde. Local guides describe its water as usually calmer than Condado's, with soft sand and room to spread out. Condado is the walkable, restaurant-lined strip – but it faces the open Atlantic, and its water can be rough, with strong currents in places.

Condado Ocean Club
The adults-only booking. Condado Ocean Club is an oceanfront, adults-only boutique hotel – guests must be 21 or older – with an infinity pool and cabanas on The Deck, above a semi-private beach. Its Booking.com URL still carries its old name, Serafina.

San Juan Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino
The big-resort booking. The Marriott sits on Condado Beach with the Stellaris Casino inside, so the nightlife is in the building. It's a Marriott, so Bonvoy points apply.

The Tryst Beachfront Hotel

Royal Sonesta San Juan
The swimming booking in the city. Royal Sonesta – the former InterContinental San Juan – sits on Isla Verde Beach with direct beach access, steps from the sand, on the calmer side of San Juan's beaches and a short ride from the airport.

Four Seasons Resort and Residences Puerto Rico
The best-beach booking. Four Seasons opened here on 20 November 2025, after refurbishing and rebranding the former St. Regis Bahía Beach – the Booking.com listing still uses the St. Regis name. It curves along two miles of beach between Río Grande and Luquillo, about 30 minutes from the airport.

Wyndham Grand Rio Mar
The rainforest-and-beach booking for less. Wyndham Grand Río Mar sits where El Yunque meets the ocean, with golden sand, a 20,000 sq ft oceanfront sundeck and golf. It sells add-on dining, golf and spa packages rather than an all-inclusive rate.

Are there all-inclusive beach resorts in Puerto Rico?
Almost none. One travel guide is blunt about it: Puerto Rico has next to none of the true all-inclusives you find in Cancun or Punta Cana. Costs run higher here, and visitors tend to explore rather than stay on the resort.
What you'll find instead are meal and activity packages added to a room – Wyndham Grand Río Mar sells dining, golf and spa packages, for example. If one price for everything matters most, compare Punta Cana or Cancun.
When to go
December through April is the dry season and the busiest, most expensive stretch. The Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, with the highest risk from August through October – the time to avoid if you want certainty, or to book flexible cancellation if you go.
