Mallorca's best private pool villa stays sit in three very different corners of the island: the Serra de Tramuntana UNESCO village of Deià, the northeast cliffs at Canyamel and a converted medieval fortress on the Bay of Palma. La Residencia in Deià is among the highest-rated on Booking.com; Can Simoneta in Canyamel (adults-only) matches it, with a standalone Grand Suite cottage beside the sea; Cap Rocat at Cala Blava offers the most dramatic setting of any private pool stay in Mallorca – a 14th-century fortress carved into cliffs above the Bay of Palma, 12 minutes from Palma Airport.

Best Overall

La Residencia, A Belmond Hotel, Mallorca

Deià, Serra de Tramuntana – 30 km from Palma, 45 min from Palma Airport (PMI)from from ~€700/night (Exclusive Suite with plunge pool, peak season)
Exclusive Suite (private plunge pool on terrace, mountain and village views); Executive Suite (private plunge pool, terrace, garden access) – both confirmed private per suite

La Residencia, A Belmond Hotel is a converted 16th-century manor house set in 30 acres of olive and citrus terraces above the village of Deià, in the Serra de Tramuntana – the mountain range running across northwest Mallorca that UNESCO designated a World Heritage Site in 2011. The hotel has scored highly with recent guests on Booking.com, which places it consistently among the top-reviewed properties on the island.

Two suite categories have a confirmed private plunge pool per unit: the Exclusive Suite and the Executive Suite, both on private terraces overlooking the mountain village and the Mediterranean below. Belmond's own site describes these as "a haven of ambience with private plunge pools" – the pool is on the suite's own terrace and is not shared with neighboring rooms. For a full-size private swimming pool rather than a plunge pool, Can Simoneta or Cap Rocat offer larger private pool configurations.

Robert Graves lived and worked in Deià for decades and the village retains its reputation as an artists' enclave – quieter and more atmospheric than the resort-heavy south. Getting here from Palma Airport takes around 45 minutes by car (the Ma-10 mountain road is well-surfaced but winding); there is no direct bus service to the hotel. Most guests rent a car for the duration of their stay, which also allows day trips to Valldemossa, Sóller and the west coast coves.

Among the highest Booking.com scores – the top-rated private pool suite hotel in this guide
In UNESCO Serra de Tramuntana at Deià, 30 km from Palma – the island's most sought-after setting
Two resort pools plus a private plunge pool per Exclusive/Executive Suite – full Belmond service
Deià is 45 min from Palma with no public transport – a rental car is essential on the mountain road
A plunge pool, not full-size – for a larger private pool, see Can Simoneta or Cap Rocat
Tiny village – tranquility and views, not beach; nearest cove (Cala Deià) is a steep 10-min walk
Best Adults-Only

Can Simoneta

Canyamel, Artà – northeast coast, 65 km from Palma Airport (PMI)from from ~€2,400/night (Grand Suite Neptuno, peak season)
Grand Suite Neptuno (standalone cottage with private swimming pool, private garden, sea views – the only private pool category at the hotel)

Can Simoneta is an adults-only cliff-edge hotel in Canyamel on Mallorca's northeast coast, with 35 suites and rooms carved into the limestone cliffs above a rocky cove. It is among the highest-rated on Booking.com. The private pool offering is a single, exceptional category: the Grand Suite Neptuno (also marketed as Grand Suite) – a standalone cottage set apart from the main hotel building, with its own private swimming pool, private garden and direct sea views from the terrace. The hotel's own description reads: "a private swimming pool, own terraces and private garden, directly facing the sea – it's unique!" – no other suite at Can Simoneta has a private pool.

The Grand Suite Neptuno is priced accordingly: specialist agencies quote approximately $2,700/night (≈€2,400–2,600) in peak season, making it the most expensive private pool villa product in this guide. What it delivers in return is a degree of seclusion that the larger resort hotels in this guide cannot match – a private cottage, its own garden and pool, and cliff-edge sea views with no neighboring terraces in the sightline. The adults-only policy keeps the property quiet year-round.

The northeast coast around Canyamel and Cala Rajada is a different Mallorca from the southwest: smaller fishing-village character, pine forests to the beach and less density than Palma Bay or Costa d'en Blanes. Palma Airport is approximately 65 km away – around 55 minutes by car. Compare La Residencia if you want the most prestigious address on the island at lower peak rates, or Cap Rocat for a dramatic fortress setting closer to Palma.

Most Dramatic

Cap Rocat, a Small Luxury Hotel of the World

Cala Blava, Bay of Palma – 12 km from Palma, 12 min from PMI Airportfrom from ~€1,900/night (Suite del Mar, peak season)
Suite del Mar (private pool, Bay of Palma views); Suite El Cabo (100 m², private swimming pool, gardens); Sentinel Suites (cliff-carved, private infinity plunge pool overlooking the bay)

Cap Rocat is a converted 14th-century military fortress on the cliffs at Cala Blava, 12 km south of Palma, with 30 suites carved directly into the fortress walls. Three suite categories have confirmed private pools: the Suite del Mar (private pool on a terrace facing the Bay of Palma), the Suite El Cabo (100 m² suite with private swimming pool and gardens) and the Sentinel Suites – clifftop rooms with private infinity plunge pools where the hotel describes "absolute privacy" carved into the ancient stone above the bay. Suite del Mar rates from approximately £1,660/night (≈€1,900–2,000); Suite El Cabo from ~£2,776/night (≈€3,200+); Sentinel Suites from ~£2,278/night (≈€2,600–2,700) in peak season.

The fortress structure means Cap Rocat has a unique aesthetic: thick stone walls, narrow corridors, cannon emplacements converted to terraces and an infinity pool at the cliff edge facing the Bay of Palma. It is not a resort in any conventional sense – there is no beach club, no poolside restaurant complex, no evening entertainment. What it has is exceptional architectural drama and proximity to Palma: the airport is 12 minutes away and Palma's Old City is 20 minutes by car, making this the most practical base in the guide for travelers wanting both a private pool experience and easy access to the city.

Compare La Residencia for the classic Mallorca mountain-village experience, or Can Simoneta for the most exclusive adults-only cottage setup on the northeast coast.

When to go

Mallorca's private pool villa season runs April through October, with the strongest combination of weather and value in May, June and September. June temperatures average 26°C and sea temperatures hit 22°C; villa rates are typically 20–35% below August peak and the mountain roads around Deià and the northeast coast are quieter. July and August bring peak demand, highest prices and full resort atmosphere across the island – La Residencia in Deià stays relatively calm but Can Simoneta and the south around Cap Rocat see heavier bookings.

October remains warm (23°C) and is excellent for walking in the Serra de Tramuntana; most private pool hotels stay open through mid-November. Outside this window, La Residencia and Cap Rocat occasionally take winter bookings but availability is limited. Palma Airport (PMI) connects year-round to London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh and Dublin on direct flights – Jet2, EasyJet, Ryanair and British Airways all fly in summer; winter routes are reduced. Flight time from the UK is around 2 hours 20 minutes.
