Half of Mallorca's private pool hotels are on the same mountain road. La Residencia in Deià and Jumeirah Mallorca above Port de Sóller sit about 10 km apart on the Ma-10, along the UNESCO-listed Serra de Tramuntana coast. The other two are deliberate outliers: a cliff-edge cottage at Canyamel and a suite carved into a 19th-century fortress on the Bay of Palma.

Three of these four are plunge pools rather than full-size swimming pools. Only Can Simoneta's cottage and Jumeirah's Mar Blau Villa give you a pool with a building attached rather than a terrace with water in it.
Which Mallorca private pool villa should you book?
Book La Residencia. It has the highest guest rating here, the lowest entry rate of the four, and three separate plunge-pool suite grades rather than a single category that sells out. Deià is the address most people actually want on this island. Check La Residencia availability before comparing – Deià is a very small village and the pool suites are a fraction of a small hotel.
If you want a standalone villa rather than a suite, book Jumeirah Mallorca – the Mar Blau Villa sits apart from the hotel with its own pool terraces. If it is two of you and seclusion is the whole point, book Can Simoneta. And if you want the strangest building on the island and a 12-minute airport run, book Cap Rocat.

La Residencia
La Residencia is a 16th-century manor house in 30 acres of olive and citrus terraces above Deià, in the Serra de Tramuntana – the mountain range UNESCO listed in 2011. Robert Graves lived in the village for decades, and it still trades on that artists'-colony reputation.
Three suite grades have a private plunge pool on their own terrace, which is more depth than any other hotel here offers at this price: the Exclusive Suite, the Executive Suite, and the Executive Junior Suite, the last with an open fireplace and mountain views off the terrace.
Belmond's own wording for the Executive Suites is "a haven of ambience with private plunge pools." The pool belongs to the suite, not to a neighboring row.
Two things to plan around. It is a plunge pool, not a swimming pool – for a full-size private pool, Can Simoneta and Jumeirah are the options. And Deià has no useful public transport: the Ma-10 is well surfaced but winding, and Palma Airport is about 45 minutes away, so a rental car is effectively required.

Jumeirah Mallorca
Ten kilometers up the same coast from Deià, Jumeirah Mallorca sits on a clifftop above Port de Sóller bay, looking back at the Tramuntana. Most of its rooms are conventional balcony rooms; one is not.
The Mar Blau Villa with Pool and Terraces is a standalone 260 m² unit set away from the main hotel, with two bedrooms – one master with walk-in wardrobe on the lower floor, one double – sleeping up to four adults. Jumeirah's own description gives it "two private terraces with plunge pool and sun loungers," and the master bedroom opens directly onto the pool.
That direct-from-the-bedroom access is the detail that separates it from the terrace pools elsewhere on this list. It is a house with a pool, not a room with one outside.
Rates run around €1,070 a night. The hotel itself brings three restaurants, a clifftop adults-only infinity pool and the Talise Spa, with thermal-area access included in the villa rate.
Palma and Palma Airport are each about 35 minutes away, and Valldemossa is 25 – closer to the city than Deià, on the same coastline.

Can Simoneta
Can Simoneta is an adults-only hotel on the limestone cliffs above a rocky cove at Canyamel, on the northeast coast, with its rooms cut into the cliff edge. It shares the top guest rating in this guide.
Its private pool offering is exactly one unit. The Gran Suite Neptuno is a standalone cottage set apart from the main building – roughly 65 m² with terrace, for two adults – with its own swimming pool, private terraces and a private garden facing straight out to sea.
The hotel's own description is blunt about what that buys: "a private swimming pool, own terraces and private garden, directly facing the sea – it's unique!" No other room here has a pool.
It is also the most expensive product in this guide, at roughly €2,400 a night in peak season. What that returns is seclusion the resort hotels cannot match – no neighboring terrace in the sightline, an adults-only policy year-round, and a cove rather than a beach.
The northeast around Canyamel and Cala Rajada is a quieter Mallorca than the southwest: fishing-village scale, pine down to the water. Palma Airport is about 65 km, roughly 55 minutes.

Cap Rocat
Cap Rocat is a late 19th-century fortified citadel built to guard the Port of Palma, carved directly into the sandstone cliffs at Cala Blava so that it is invisible from both the sea and the mainland. The Mallorcan architect Antonio Obrador spent ten years converting it.
Six suites here have private plunge pools, in two categories. The Sentinels are cut into the rock at the cliff edge – a small private pool, hammocks and an outdoor terrace above the water. Suite del Mar rooms are bungalows with sea views from every point, a small overflow pool and a private garden with a covered terrace.
Six pool suites in the whole hotel is the number to plan around. This is not a category you book late in July.
It is also not a resort in any normal sense: no beach club, no poolside restaurant complex, no evening entertainment. What it has is a sea-blending infinity pool, a spa carved into limestone under a skylight, La Fortaleza restaurant seating 30, a private beach and a yacht for 11.
The practical argument is proximity. Palma Airport is 12 minutes away and the Old City about 20 – by far the easiest logistics of the four.

Three of the four hotels here have a single-figure number of private-pool units – Can Simoneta has one, Cap Rocat six, Jumeirah one villa. On an island that takes more than ten million visitors a year, that inventory is gone months ahead for July and August. If your dates are fixed and the pool is the point, book the room before the flight.
The Tramuntana cluster, and why the other two are elsewhere
La Residencia and Jumeirah Mallorca are 10 km apart on the Ma-10, and between them they cover most of what people come to northwest Mallorca for: Deià, Sóller, Valldemossa, the coast road, the mountains. If you cannot get one, the other is a genuine substitute rather than a consolation.
They are also different products. La Residencia is a manor house with plunge-pool suites and a village outside the gate. Jumeirah is a modern clifftop hotel whose pool inventory is one villa.
Can Simoneta and Cap Rocat exist because they had to be somewhere specific. A cliff cottage needs a cliff with nothing else on it, which is why Canyamel. A fortress hotel needs a fortress, which is why the Bay of Palma.
That geography decides the trip more than the pool does. Northwest for mountains and villages, northeast for quiet, Cala Blava for architecture and a short transfer.
When to go
May, June and September are the strongest months. June averages 26°C with the sea at 22°C, rates run 20–35% under the August peak, and the mountain roads around Deià and Sóller are far quieter.
July and August are peak everywhere on the island. La Residencia stays relatively calm in its village; Can Simoneta and the Bay of Palma feel the demand hardest.
October holds at about 23°C and is the best month for walking the Tramuntana. Most private pool hotels run to mid-November, after which availability thins out sharply.
Palma Airport (PMI) is one of Spain's busiest, with year-round direct flights from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh and Dublin – about 2 hours 20 minutes from the UK. It is 12 minutes from Cap Rocat, 35 from Port de Sóller and 45 from Deià.
For the other Balearics, Ibiza puts its pool stays in the rural interior and west cliffs, and Menorca is the quietest of the three. On the mainland, Costa Brava covers the Empordà near Girona. Further east, Santorini and Cyprus run comparable seasons.
