If you're bringing children, this is the one. Ella Helea is at Kallithea, 14 km from Rhodes airport – the closest confirmed swim-up hotel on the island – which on a family trip with an evening arrival is worth real money.

It's also the cleanest booking on this page. That's not a fault in the hotel, but it does mean the headline €280 tells you less than the other four rates do – it might include every meal or almost none of them.

Why the cheapest swim-up room on Rhodes is the furthest from the airport

Line these five up by distance and the pricing reads backwards. Ella Helea, at 14 km from the airport, is the most expensive at €490. Atlantica Dreams, at 80 minutes, is the cheapest at €250 – for comparable all-inclusive board. The pool isn't what you're paying for.

Rhodes has an established north and a quiet south. Kallithea and Faliraki sit within half an hour of the runway, close to Rhodes Town, and that convenience is priced into every room in the area – Ella Helea and Amada Colossos both sit there. Kiotari and Gennadi are 65 to 80 minutes down the coast, which cuts them out of the short-break market entirely, so they compete on rate and on quiet instead.

Casa Cook is the one property that ignores this rule, and it does so by not selling the same product. At 40 minutes it's in the middle of the island geographically and outside the model commercially – adults-only, design-led, breakfast-only – so it competes on how the pool is built rather than on how much food comes with it.
