Best Swim-Up Rooms in Zakynthos (Zante), Greece (2026)

The best swim-up room on Zakynthos shares its pool with five others. Zante Maris groups its Swim Up Suites around a single 170 m² pool serving a sextet of suites – the tightest ratio on the island, and the reason it is also the highest-rated. Everything else splits three ways: Tsilivi in the north, Laganas by the airport, Kalamaki between them. The cheapest sits 2.2 km from the runway.

Four of the six are all-inclusive, so the rates are not comparing like with like – €130 at White Olive covers the food, €180 at Contessina does not. What is unusual about Zakynthos is the adults-only density: three of these six take no children at all, which is a higher proportion than any other destination in this silo.

Which Zakynthos swim-up room should you book?

Book Zante Maris Suites. It is the highest-rated property on the island, it is adults-only from 18, and its Swim Up Suite with Sun Deck belongs to a group of six suites sharing a single 170 m² pool – which is what "shared" should mean and rarely does. It sits on a hillside above Tsilivi, roughly 10 minutes from Zakynthos airport.

Check Zante Maris dates – six suites is the entire swim-up allocation, so July and August dates there are gone months in advance.

Five alternatives, each for one reason. Traveling with children: book Contessina, which has three swim-up categories and one that sleeps five. Wanting all-inclusive without children: book King Jason. Wanting that cheaper: book Castelli. Booking late or in peak: book Caretta Beach, which has nineteen swim-up rooms and therefore the best odds. On a budget or an early flight: book White Olive.

Tsilivi, Laganas or Kalamaki?

Tsilivi, on the northeast coast, has the three strongest properties – Zante Maris, Contessina and King Jason – within a couple of kilometers of each other. It is a proper resort village with restaurants and a water park, calmer than Laganas, and about 10 to 15 minutes from ZTH.

Laganas is the south-coast strip, and it is two things at once. It is the island's nightlife center, and it is also the National Marine Park of Zakynthos – Laganas Bay is a loggerhead turtle nesting ground, with night access to parts of the beach restricted from June to August and boat speeds capped in the bay. Both facts are true of the same three-kilometer stretch, so the specific address matters more here than anywhere else on the island.

Kalamaki sits between the two, on the eastern end of the same protected bay – quieter than Laganas, with the same turtle rules, and home to the island's single biggest swim-up allocation.

Zante Maris Suites

This is the pick, and the arithmetic is the reason. The Swim Up Suite with Sun Deck is, in the hotel's own description, part of "a sextet of suites with access to a 170 sq.m. sharing pool". Six suites. One pool. Most properties in this silo put a swim-up wing onto the resort's main water; this is closer to a private pool that happens to have five neighbors.

There is a second category worth knowing about: the Junior Suite Swim Up Heated Pool. It is the only heated swim-up water on this page, which matters in May and October, when Zakynthos air is warm and the Ionian is not yet.

The property is adults-only from 18, a hillside build of paved walkways and sun decks laid out like a village, with a spa and fitness center, about 10 minutes from the airport. The cost of the hillside is the beach: Tsilivi Beach is a 13-minute walk downhill, and the walk back up is the part people mention.

One thing to get right at booking. Zante Maris also sells Private Pool Suites – its own site describes the range as suites "including private or shared swim up pools". Those are a different product. The words you want are Swim Up and sharing pool.

Contessina Hotel

Contessina is the family answer, and it is the only property here that gives you a choice of swim-up rooms rather than one category to fight over. Three of them: the Superior Double Room with Shared Pool at the entry, the Swim Up Pool Suite above it, and the Friends & Family Swim Up Suite, which sleeps five – a rare configuration in a category that usually caps at two.

The Swim Up Pool Suites are ground floor, opening onto a sharing pool with daybeds suspended above the water. It is a design-led hotel rather than a package one, and it is the second-highest-rated property on this page, close behind Zante Maris.

Position is its other argument: 110 meters to Tsilivi Beach, which none of the higher-rated options can claim. Two restaurants, a spa, separate adult and children's pools.

Be careful with the name. There is a sister property, Contessina Suites & Spa, which is adults-only and a different booking – if you want children in the room, the one you want is plain Contessina Hotel.

King Jason Zante

King Jason is the most extravagant use of water on the island: nearly half the hilltop property is pool, arranged as a run of connected swim-up pools winding between olive groves, with suites opening onto them from almost every angle. It is part of Louis Hotels' Exclusive Collection and it opened recently, which is why it feels less like a Greek package resort than anything else here.

Two swim-up categories are confirmed on the hotel's own site. The Superior Swim-up Suite is 30 m² for two, with what the hotel calls immediate connection to the main pool from its deck, and there is a Deluxe Swim-up Suite above it.

The concept is worth knowing before you book, because it is unusually specific: adults-only, all-inclusive, three restaurants, picnic hampers for the olive grove, and staff the hotel calls "slowness coaches". If that reads as indulgent to you, it is not the hotel for you. If it reads as the point, nothing else on Zakynthos does it.

The catch is the same one as at Zante Maris and worth repeating: the highest-end suites here have private pools, not shared ones. Confirm the category says Swim-up.

Book this one if you want adults-only all-inclusive and the most water on the island. Check King Jason rates – at around €350 all-inclusive it is the highest rate on this page, and the food and drink are inside that figure.

Castelli Hotel

Castelli is the cheaper way to do the same thing King Jason does – adults-only, all-inclusive, with a swim-up room – for roughly €120 a night less. It sits at Agios Sostis, the quiet western corner of Laganas bay, well away from the strip.

Two categories: the Junior Suite Swim Up, sleeping up to three with a king bed and a permanent third bed, and the Superior Swim Up Room. The hotel's own description of the arrangement is unusually precise – every swim-up room has a shaded terrace with a sofa and a bean bag, and "private access to an exclusive section of the inviting sharing pool". In other words: your own bit of a pool other rooms also use, which is the honest version of this product.

The trade is isolation. Agios Sostis is genuinely quiet, and outside July and August there is not much open within walking distance. That is the appeal for most people booking an all-inclusive adults-only room, and a real drawback for anyone who wanted to eat out.

Caretta Beach Resort and WaterPark

Caretta Beach is the answer to a question the rest of this page cannot answer: what do you book in August, or three weeks out? It has nineteen swim-up rooms, against six suites at Zante Maris and a handful at each of the others. Nowhere else on Zakynthos gives you those odds.

The rooms are straightforward and the hotel says so plainly: all nineteen are ground floor, with "direct access to a shared swimming pool by walking outside their balconies". Each is 30 m² with a double and two singles, so it sleeps four – another rare thing in this category.

Set expectations honestly, because this is the lowest-rated property here and it is not a boutique. It is an all-inclusive waterpark resort at Kalamaki with six adult slides, six children's slides, a wave pool, a lazy river and five outdoor pools. Calm is not what it sells; availability and a full day's entertainment for children are.

White Olive Premium Laganas

White Olive is the cheapest confirmed swim-up room on Zakynthos at around €130 all-inclusive, and it is 2.2 km from the airport – five minutes in a taxi. For a 06:00 flight home, or a landing after midnight, that is worth more than it sounds.

The category is the Swim Up double room, and the property runs three pools with a rooftop bar, 450 meters from Laganas Beach. It takes children of all ages.

The context you need is the bay. Laganas Beach is inside the National Marine Park, and loggerhead turtles nest along it from June to August – night access to parts of the sand is restricted and water sports are limited near the nesting zones. That is a constraint on evening beach walks, and it is also one of the few places in Europe where you can see the nests, which is why families book here on purpose.

Two more, with caveats attached

Palazetto Suites – Adults Only in Tsilivi is a real swim-up hotel: six of its 27 suites open onto a 155 m² shared pool with mosaics and fiber-optic lighting, sold as the Swim Up Junior Suite with Pool View. It stays off the list above for one reason – it carries the weakest guest ratings of any Tsilivi swim-up hotel, low enough on Expedia to sit below every grid row, which for a boutique of this size is a signal rather than noise. Zante Park Resort & Spa, BW Premier Collection in Laganas sells a Premium Room Swim Up at 25–35 m² in its annex building, and the swim-up rooms there do open onto a shared pool. The problem is bookability: the hotel's own room description says only that some units in that category have the swim-up design, which means the room you pay for may not be one of them. Until that wording changes, it is not a booking we would send you to make blind.

The short version

If the dates are gone, Rhodes has the deepest swim-up inventory of any Greek island and a longer season, Corfu is the greener Ionian alternative, and the rest of the country is on the Greece hub. If a pool nobody else steps into is what you actually pictured, that is a private pool villa in Zakynthos rather than a swim-up room – a different category and a different price. When to go

May, June and September are the sweet spot. The Ionian holds 25–27°C through late summer, the crowds thin either side of the school holidays, and rates sit well below the peak.

July and August are the expensive months, and they are the ones where six suites at Zante Maris becomes a real constraint. If those are your dates, book three to four months out – or accept Caretta Beach, which has the inventory to absorb them.

October is still swimmable and excellent value, with one caveat: smaller properties start closing from mid-month, so check the hotel is actually open before you book flights. May and October are also when the heated pool at Zante Maris earns its premium – the air is fine, the unheated water is not.
