It looks like someone drove a sports car into the Gulf and it refused to sink. A jet car is a personal watercraft built in the shape of a car – bodywork, spoiler, wing mirrors, a steering wheel and an 1800cc supercharged engine, sitting on the water rather than in it. Most people arrive here searching for what it actually is before searching for what it costs.
You drive it. That is the part worth paying for
The obvious assumption is that something this odd must be a passenger ride with a skipper at the wheel. It is not. You drive your own jet car, with an instructor leading the group on the water ahead of you and a full briefing on the controls before you launch.
That single fact is what separates it from every sightseeing boat in this guide, and it is the reason the novelty holds up for more than the first photograph. You are steering, throttling and taking the turns yourself.
Handling sits somewhere between a jet ski and a small speedboat. The car body means you are seated inside rather than straddling a machine, so it is drier, more stable and less physically demanding than a jet ski – which makes it a better fit for anyone who wants the driving without the workout.
Book it if the machine is the reason. Nobody books a jet car for the route; the route is available cheaper on four other products in this guide. You book it because you want to drive a car on the sea, and there is no substitute for that.
What it costs, honestly

The arithmetic is better than it first looks if you fill the second seat. Split between two it lands near $65 each for a 30-minute drive with photos and video included. There are 20, 30 and 60-minute versions. Take the 30. Twenty is over before the novelty has settled into actual driving, and sixty is a long time at this price for a route that repeats.
The route, which is the ordinary part
From the Umm Suqeim end of the coast, the run passes the Burj Al Arab, the Dubai Marina and JBR skyline, Palm Jumeirah and Atlantis – the same coastline every fast-water product here covers.
Treat that as a bonus rather than the purchase. The 90-minute speedboat circuit covers the same landmarks in more detail for a third of the price, and the jet ski gets closer to the Burj Al Arab for less. What neither gives you is the car.

Worth a paragraph, because self-driving an unfamiliar powered craft raises the obvious question.
You are driving, but you are not unsupervised: the instructor leads the group on the water throughout, after a briefing covering the controls and safety procedure. That convoy format is standard for self-drive powered watercraft in Dubai and it is what makes handing an 1800cc machine to a first-timer workable.
On the regulatory side, Dubai's maritime authority issued rules in 2023 covering companies that rent out jet skis and watercraft used in water sports, requiring tracking and remote-control systems, programming to restricted speed zones, and certified trainers. When to go
November through April, roughly 18°C to 30°C, and take a morning slot. Flat water matters here as it does for everything on this coast, and it matters slightly more when you are the one driving.
