Aquaventure set a Guinness World Record in 2022 for the most waterslides in a waterpark, with 50 – part of a wider count of 105 slides, attractions and experiences across the Atlantis resort on Palm Jumeirah. That scale is the reason people come, even though the specific slide-count record has since moved to Yas Waterworld in Abu Dhabi. The reason a lot of them leave mildly annoyed is a ticketing decision made in about four seconds on a phone, because the park sells several passes with near-identical names and meaningfully different contents.
The ticket that catches people out
Here is the distinction that costs people their afternoon. The standard Aquaventure day pass covers the waterpark. It does not include the aquarium.
The aquarium – now called The Lost World Aquarium, and still widely referred to by its old name, The Lost Chambers – is a separate attraction inside the same resort. Getting into both on one day requires either the combo ticket or a second purchase at the gate.
Buy the combo. The waterpark-and-aquarium ticket runs about six dollars above the day pass, which is close to nothing against a $57 base and roughly the price of a park drink. Even if the aquarium is a maybe, six dollars buys you the option, and the walk-up alternative is paying full price for it on the day.
What 105 attractions actually means
The number is real rather than marketing arithmetic, and it covers a wider spread than "slides" suggests.
The signature ride is Leap of Faith: a near-vertical 27.5 m freefall that drops you into a clear tunnel running through a shark-filled lagoon. It is the one in every photograph and it is genuinely steep. Trident Tower carries the bulk of the record-breaking rides, group rafts and mat racers.
Around that sits the part people underrate. A 2.3 km tidal river runs through the park, which is long enough to be transport rather than an attraction, and the ticket includes 2 km of private beach. On a hot day the river and the beach are where a family actually spends the middle of the afternoon, and they are the reason a full day here does not feel like queuing between six slides.
Book Aquaventure if you have a full day and a mixed group. The scale is the product: thrill-seekers, small children and someone who wants to float for four hours can all be satisfied in the same ticket, which is not true of a smaller park.
Practical things worth knowing before you go
Three that come up repeatedly and are easy to solve in advance.
Bring water shoes. The ground gets genuinely hot underfoot, and this is the single most common practical complaint from visitors. It is a five-dollar problem to solve at home and an all-day problem to ignore.
The pass is valid for one day from first entry, so arriving early is free capacity rather than a rush. Gates at opening on a weekend is the difference between walking onto Leap of Faith and queuing forty minutes for it.
It is on Palm Jumeirah, not in the city. Factor the transfer into the day at both ends, and if you are staying Jumeirah-side rather than on the Palm, weigh that against the smaller park next to the Burj Al Arab before committing – the comparison is below.
Aquaventure or Wild Wadi
Dubai has two serious water parks and they are not competing for the same day.

Take Aquaventure if this is your only water park day. The variety absorbs a full day and a mixed group in a way a thirty-ride park cannot, and the beach and tidal river give you somewhere to be when everyone is tired of stairs. Wild Wadi is the better pick for a half day, a Jumeirah-side base, or anyone who wants the flowriders.
When to go, and booking it
November through April, when daytime temperatures sit roughly between 18°C and 30°C. A water park is the one Dubai attraction that stays tolerable slightly outside that window, since you are wet all day, but the queues and the walking are not shaded and the ground heat is worse in summer.
Within the season, weekdays over weekends, and gates at opening. Weekends and UAE school holidays are when this park feels crowded rather than large.

The rest of the water in Dubai
If a park is not the day, three alternatives suit the same kind of group. An hour in a clear kayak off Jumeirah Bay is the calm, cheap end of the scale. And parasailing over the Palm puts you about 200 m above the island you have been sliding down all day.
