That framing matters for planning. This is a whole-day commitment, so it cannot share a day with a spa afternoon or a late checkout, and it is the wrong booking for anyone who wants an evening activity after a beach morning.
Same islands as the day trip – the boat is the difference

One structural detail worth knowing: a catamaran cannot get close in to Khao Phing Kan, so the James Bond Island portion is usually done by transferring to a longtail for the final approach. You still reach the same beach. You simply arrive from a bigger boat.

Who should pay it and who should not
Book the cruise if the boat is the holiday, not the transport. Couples, a milestone trip, anyone who has already done one packed Thai island tour and did not enjoy being herded, and anyone whose main memory of a day out is whether they had space to sit down. Skip it and take the longtail day trip if you are ticking the bay off a list. Phuket sells six water days worth separating, and this is the slow one.
