Antigua has two overwater resorts, both operated by Royalton under the Marriott Autograph Collection banner: the Chairman's Overwater Bungalows at Royalton Antigua on Deep Bay, and the Junior Overwater Suite at Royalton CHIC Antigua on Dickenson Bay. Both sit on stilts above the Caribbean, both are all-inclusive with private plunge pools, and both are the only genuine above-water rooms on the island. The choice between them comes down to one variable: families and couples welcome (Deep Bay) vs adults-only (Dickenson Bay).

Royalton CHIC Antigua, An Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort – Adults Only
Royalton CHIC Antigua is the adults-only arm of the Royalton operation in Antigua, and the Junior Overwater Suite is its above-water product. The full room name on Marriott's booking engine is Luxury Junior Sunset Overwater Suite Diamond Club™ – a bungalow of 1,165 sq ft built above Dickenson Bay on the northwest coast of the island. The private infinity plunge pool is on the deck above the water, facing west into the Caribbean sunset. The glass floor panel, over-water hammock and sea ladder are standard across the suite.
The Diamond Club designation means this category earns automatic premium resort access: dedicated restaurant areas, butler service, priority check-in and exclusive pool areas. This is included in the rate, not an add-on. The all-inclusive package covers all meals, premium drinks, watersports, land activities and the Diamond Club benefits. The rate of approximately $3,600/couple/night positions this as the higher-end of the two Antigua options, roughly in line with the Sandals Grande St. Lucian overwater tier.
The adults-only constraint is the defining feature for this property. Royalton CHIC Antigua does not permit children, which makes a material difference to the atmosphere on the overwater deck and throughout the resort. Couples who want a quieter, less family-oriented Antigua overwater experience should prioritize CHIC over the main Royalton Antigua property.
Royalton Antigua, An Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort
Royalton Antigua opened the Chairman's Overwater Bungalows as the first above-water product on the island. Six bungalows sit on stilts above Deep Bay on the quieter west coast of Antigua, near Five Islands Village. Each bungalow has a private swim-out infinity plunge pool on the deck above the water, a glass floor panel, an over-water hammock and direct sea access via a ladder from the terrace.
The Chairman's Overwater Bungalow category automatically includes Diamond Club status – Royalton's premium tier, which adds butler service around the clock, access to exclusive à la carte restaurants, a VIP lounge and reserved Diamond Club beach and pool areas. Unlike at some resorts where premium tiers involve an add-on charge, Diamond Club is bundled into the Chairman's room rate.
The overall Booking.com score is the honest caveat. It reflects the overall Royalton Antigua resort, not the overwater bungalows specifically. Reviews consistently note the overwater category itself as the highlight of the property; the lower score reflects broader resort service and maintenance feedback. Guests booking Chairman's should expect an above-average overwater experience and an average-quality resort surrounding it.
Deep Bay is one of the quieter and more sheltered beaches on Antigua's west coast – notably calmer than Dickenson Bay and less exposed to north Atlantic swell during winter months. The five-island geography of the bay creates naturally protected water, which is a practical advantage for swimming from the bungalow deck.
Royalton Antigua vs Royalton CHIC: which to choose
Both resorts sit on Antigua, both are Marriott Autograph Collection, both are all-inclusive with above-water bungalows and private plunge pools. The decision is usually one of the following:
Choose Royalton CHIC Antigua if: you are a couple or on a honeymoon, you want adults-only atmosphere, or the sunset-facing orientation of Dickenson Bay matters to you. The higher price reflects the more premium adults-focused positioning.
Choose Royalton Antigua (Chairman's) if: you are traveling with family or prefer families not to be excluded, or the lower nightly rate (compared to CHIC) is a factor. Deep Bay's sheltered location is also slightly calmer for in-water activities.
When to go
Antigua's dry season runs December to April, with January through March as the optimal overwater bungalow window. Trade winds from the northeast keep temperatures at 24–28 °C, rainfall is minimal, and the Caribbean Sea around both Deep Bay and Dickenson Bay is at its calmest. The island's position in the Leeward Islands makes it less exposed to Atlantic swell than Barbados or St. Lucia during this period.
May through November is the wet season and Caribbean hurricane season. Antigua is not in the direct Atlantic hurricane track but can receive significant tropical weather systems from July onward. The June–October window brings noticeably lower rates at both Royalton properties – 25–40% below December–April peak pricing – at the cost of weather reliability.
The shoulder periods (November, late April–May) offer the best value-to-conditions balance: dry-season conditions are mostly intact, nightly rates have dropped, and overwater availability is more flexible.
