Royal Garden Villas

This is the practical answer on the island. Royal Garden Villas is 28 villas across six categories, and every single one has a solar-heated private pool – no standard rooms, no non-pool tier, nothing to misread on a booking page.

The range is what makes it flexible. The Duchess Villa is the one-bedroom entry, then Grand Duchess, then the two-bedroom Princess and Majestic, up to the three-bedroom Royal, Imperial and Queen sleeping as many as eight. That spread, plus the fact that it isn't adults-only, makes it the only genuine family option among Tenerife's confirmed private-pool hotels.

Position is good rather than spectacular: a 10-minute walk to the Costa Adeje strip for restaurants and bars, and about 25 minutes from Tenerife South (TFS). At €430 it's the cheapest confirmed private-pool villa on the island by a wide margin.

Royal River, Luxury Hotel

Royal River carries the highest guest rating of the three and it's adults-only across all 50 villas, each with a private pool or plunge pool as standard. The design is African-inspired, a 24-hour butler is included, and the spa runs a full thermal circuit. It's also the closest to the airport at about 20 minutes.

One distinction decides which villa to book. The Lagoon Villa and Pool Villa have a fully private pool in an enclosed garden. The River Villa has a plunge pool that connects by waterway to a shared "river pool" running through the property – lovely, and genuinely part of the design, but not the same as an enclosed private pool. If total isolation is the point, book Lagoon or Pool specifically.

Gran Melia Palacio de Isora

This is the outlier: not an all-villa hotel but a large 5-star resort at Alcalá on the west coast, under the Los Gigantes cliffs, with one villa tier that qualifies for this list. Its guest score is the lowest here, and that reflects the mixed-scale resort rather than the villas – the RedLevel villas themselves rate considerably higher than the property average.

Be precise about what you're booking. Only the Private Pool Villa RedLevel has a confirmed private pool – loft-style, with a large private garden, a heated pool and a Bali bed. Standard rooms and suites here access communal pools only.

The resort's headline feature, the 762-meter seawater infinity pool – one of the longest in Europe – is a shared amenity, not a private one. RedLevel itself adds dedicated check-in, butler service and amenity upgrades.

Why Tenerife's pool villas run all year and Spain's don't

Every other private-pool destination in Spain sells a summer. Tenerife sells twelve months, and that changes what got built here.

The climate does the first half: 20°C in January, 28°C in August, an Atlantic island far enough south that winter never really arrives.

The hotels do the second half. All three properties heat their pools year-round – Royal Garden Villas with solar heating across all 28 villas – which is what turns a mild January into a usable one. A pool villa on the Costa del Sol in February is a garden you look at.

Demand followed. When to go

Tenerife is a 365-day destination, from about 20°C in January to 28°C in August, so the question isn't whether the weather works – it's what you'll pay for it.

May and October are the value months: 24–25°C air, 22°C sea, and rates running 20–35% below the August peak. That's the sweet spot if your dates are flexible.

July, August and the UK Christmas–New Year window are the highest-demand periods at all three hotels, and with 28 and 50 villas at the two all-villa properties, that inventory disappears early. From November to March the heated pools are the whole point – it's the season where Tenerife has no real competition.
