Station 1: the quiet north end

Station 1 holds the widest, calmest stretch of White Beach, and it's where Boracay's higher-end resorts have historically clustered. Fewer vendors walk the sand here. The water's usually a shade calmer too.

Discovery Boracay

Check the name before you book: this opened in 2007 as Discovery Shores Boracay and dropped the "Shores" in November 2024, but the Booking.com listing still carries the old name in its URL. Same resort, same Station 1 sand, about 450 meters from Willy's Rock. All 88 rooms are suites – no standard double here – with beachfront dining service and a free shuttle covering the rest of the island.

The pool has a sunken bar built into it, and the spa runs a full menu rather than a token treatment room. No real reason to leave the property. Station 1's calmer setting makes that easier to justify than it would be in the middle of Station 2.

Rates swing hard by date: deals dip to around $55 in the off-season, while a straightforward Queen suite in peak months can clear $400. The Lind Boracay

The Lind opened in 2016 as the flagship of Scottland Leisure Inc.'s Lind Hotels, and it runs 118 rooms across ten categories, from a 45 m² Garden Room up to a Sea Premier with Pool. It's the only hotel here with a category literally named Beach Room – 53 to 67 m², a real tier rather than an upgrade euphemism.

That range is the whole pitch. A couple can book a compact Garden room and still reach the sand in under a minute, while a family or group can move up to a Sea Premier without changing hotels. The spa and a complimentary Caticlan Airport shuttle round out a genuinely full-service stay.

At around $274 to start, it isn't the cheapest option in Station 1. Book this one if you want the widest choice of room types on one property. Check The Lind Boracay rates – the Beach Room tier is the one worth paying up for, and it's the first to go.

Astoria Boracay

Astoria sits on a 3,500 m² beachfront plot in Station 1, with 71 rooms from 26 to 50 m². Built in 2010, it was the first resort property Astoria Hotels and Resorts built, with interiors by the Philippine firm Gallego & Associates. Rooms are simpler than Discovery or The Lind – flat-screen TVs, private balconies, an outdoor pool – but the beach position is the same Station 1 sand.

Rates start around $65, the lowest confirmed beachfront rate on this whole list, in either station. That's the entire case for it: the same stretch of White Beach that Discovery Boracay charges four times as much for. Book this one if the location is what you're paying for, not the room finish. Station 2: the central strip

Station 2 is Boracay's busiest stretch – D'Mall, most of the restaurants, most of the nightlife, all within a short walk. Two resorts here are confirmed directly on the sand, both smaller and more boutique than the Station 1 properties above.

The District Boracay

The District opened in 2012 as a 48-room boutique resort, with the beach directly outside its door and D'Mall a short walk away. It's the smallest property on this list and holds the highest guest rating of the five, with a location score that outpaces every other confirmed beachfront hotel in Boracay.

Three restaurants cover Filipino, Japanese and cafe menus on-site, plus the Upperhouse Spa and a rooftop events deck. Small enough to feel curated. Central enough to walk to everything. That combination is rare on an island where scale usually wins.

Red Coconut Beach Hotel

Built in 2000, Red Coconut is the oldest property on this list by seven years, and the most central – 50 meters from D'Mall, with shopping, restaurants and nightlife starting at the front door rather than a shuttle ride away. 50 rooms across four floors, plus a beach bar built into its own stretch of sand.

Be straight about it: this is the weakest-rated of the five, and the rooms are the reason. A TV, a fridge, a safe, some balconies, no spa program and no suite tier. What you're booking is the address. Book this one if being in the middle of everything matters more than a quiet room. The 2018 closure is why this list is five hotels long

Boracay has hundreds of hotels. Five of them have rooms opening onto White Beach. That gap isn't marketing – it's law.

The Philippine government closed the island to tourists for six months, from 26 April to 26 October 2018, to rebuild its sewerage and clear the shoreline. What came out of it was the "25+5" rule: 25 meters of beach easement measured from the mean high water mark, plus a 5-meter beach path. Nothing may be built inside those 30 meters. Around 900 structures across the island came down for violating it.

So "beachfront" in Boracay now means one specific thing: your building sits behind the easement and you walk out across it onto the sand. Nobody's balcony hangs over the water anymore, and no new hotel will ever get closer. Look at the dates on this list – 2000, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2016 – and note that nothing has joined it since the closure.

Plenty of hotels marketed as "Boracay beachfront" don't clear even that bar. Mövenpick Resort & Spa Boracay sits on its own private beach at Punta Bunga, roughly 2.8 kilometers away – a genuinely different stretch of coast. None of that makes those hotels bad. It makes "beachfront" a word worth checking, not trusting.

What to do beyond the beach

The beach covers the mornings; the water further out covers the rest of the trip. Island hopping is the daytime boat trip covering Crystal Cove and Puka Beach, and the evening belongs to a sunset cruise or the shorter, traditional paraw sailing. For a short thrill, parasailing, helmet diving and jet ski sessions all run from offshore stations off White Beach.

When to go

November through April is Boracay's dry season, and December through April is peak: calm water, minimal rain, and the highest rates and tightest availability of the year, especially at the smaller Station 2 properties.

May through October brings the southwest monsoon (habagat), with more rain and rougher seas, heaviest from June to September. Rates ease off noticeably, though the payoff is fewer crowds on a beach that's genuinely busy in peak months.

Whichever window you pick, book the room before the flight. Only five Boracay resorts open onto White Beach, and the smallest of them – The District, at 48 rooms – sells out well ahead of the December peak.
