Adults-Only Resorts in the Caribbean: Pick the Island, Then the Resort

Updated November 4, 20267 min read

Adults-only supply in the Caribbean is lopsided. Jamaica and Punta Cana have long lists of kid-free all-inclusives; the Bahamas has three adults-only resorts, Turks and Caicos one all-inclusive, Puerto Rico none. So pick the island first. As a couple, book Couples Swept Away in Jamaica: couples only, 18 and over, on Seven Mile Beach. For the lowest all-inclusive rate here, JOIA Bavaro in Punta Cana. Want reliable weather? Bucuti & Tara on Aruba.

Those are approximate nightly rates for two, before tax. Five are all-inclusive; Bucuti includes breakfast and Condado Ocean Club sells rooms only. All seven were selling rooms when we checked, and each bars children on its own site or in Booking.com's house rules. Each island has its own guide, linked below.

Which Caribbean island for an adults-only trip?

For most couples, pick Jamaica. It has the deepest adults-only supply of any island we cover, plus Couples, the one couples-only brand on our list. Check Couples Swept Away availability – traveling June to November? That's hurricane season, so book a refundable rate.

On a budget? Pick Punta Cana. Afraid of hurricane season? Pick Aruba.

The resort we'd book on each island

Couples Swept Away

The Jamaica booking. Couples' own FAQ sets the minimum age at 18, and its four resorts are reserved exclusively for couples. Booking.com lists it as beachfront on Negril's Seven Mile Beach.

Scuba diving with PADI-certified equipment is included, per Couples, and Booking.com's description includes Montego Bay airport transfers. From around $445 a night for two, all-inclusive. Book this one if you're a couple and want the fewest extras on the bill. Check Couples Swept Away rates. Every Jamaica option is in our Jamaica adults-only guide.

JOIA Bavaro by Iberostar

The value booking. Iberostar lists it as an adults-only hotel (18+) with direct beach access, and Booking.com allows no children. It's on Arena Gorda in Bávaro, with seven restaurants, butler service and access to an 18-hole golf course.

The room list includes swim-out butler suites. The lowest all-inclusive rate on this list, from around $420 a night for two. Book this one if you want a big adults-only all-inclusive at a mid-range rate. Check JOIA Bavaro rates. More options in our Punta Cana adults-only guide.

Secrets St. Lucia

The St. Lucia booking. Booking.com describes a luxurious adults-only resort on Choc Bay and allows no children. It sells all-inclusive rates, with swim-out rooms.

From around $550 a night for two, all-inclusive. Book this one if you want a beach all-inclusive with the Pitons a day trip away. Check Secrets St. Lucia rates. For Ladera, Jade Mountain and the three Sandals, see our St. Lucia adults-only guide.

Riu Palace Paradise Island

The Bahamas booking. Booking.com allows no children, with a check-in age of 18, and lists it as beachfront on Paradise Island.

The rate is all-inclusive. If a one-night search shows nothing, try three nights or more. From around $485 a night for two. Book this one if you want the shortest flight and the beach out the door. Check Riu Palace Paradise Island rates. The other two Nassau options are in our Bahamas adults-only guide.

Bucuti and Tara Beach Resort

The Aruba booking. Bucuti's own FAQ says it caters exclusively to adults and couples, 18 years of age and older. It's directly on Eagle Beach.

The resort keeps its grounds and loungers adults-only and music-free; the shoreline itself is shared, it says. Breakfast was included in the rates we saw; it isn't all-inclusive.

From around $560 a night for two. Book this one if you want a quiet beach and weather you can count on. Check Bucuti and Tara rates. For the island's other beach hotels, see beachfront resorts in Aruba.

Galley Bay Resort

The Antigua booking. Galley Bay calls itself an all-inclusive, adults-only resort, and Booking.com allows no children, with a check-in age of 18. It sits on a white-sand beach at Five Islands, on the west coast.

The room list is built around beachfront rooms and suites. From around $835 a night for two, all-inclusive, with a resort fee included. Book this one if you want a smaller, quieter all-inclusive on the sand. Check Galley Bay rates. Antigua's other beach resorts are in our Antigua beachfront guide.

Condado Ocean Club

The Puerto Rico booking. The hotel calls itself all-adult, and Booking.com sets the check-in age at 21 and allows no children. Condado Beach is a 3-minute walk away, per Booking.com.

It's a city hotel, not a resort: rooms only, a pool, and San Juan's restaurants on the doorstep. From around $265 a night for two. Book this one if you want a long adults-only weekend without a passport (for US citizens). Check Condado Ocean Club rates. More in our Puerto Rico adults-only guide.

The fine print

Adults-only isn't always couples-only. Couples Resorts take couples only. Sandals says friends and solo travelers are welcome. Traveling as friends? Check the resort's own policy before you book.

Is it all-inclusive? Island by island

  • Jamaica and Punta Cana: yes, nearly every adults-only resort is all-inclusive.
  • St. Lucia: yes on the north coast; the Pitons hotels mostly sell rooms with breakfast.
  • The Bahamas: yes, at Sandals Bahamas Nassau and Riu Palace Paradise Island.
  • Antigua: yes. Galley Bay, Sandals Antigua, and Hammock Cove, which bills itself as an adults-only all-inclusive of 51 villas.
  • Turks and Caicos: one. Club Med's own page calls Club Med Turkoise an adults-only all-inclusive on Grace Bay. See our Turks and Caicos guide.
  • Aruba: Bucuti & Tara sells breakfast. For all-inclusive, Riu Palace Antillas and Secrets Baby Beach Aruba are both adults-only; Booking.com allows no children at either.
  • Puerto Rico: none we could find. The adults-only hotels are small and sell rooms.

Sandals, island by island

Sandals' own blog says every Sandals resort is 18 and older, by policy. Sandals renamed many of its resorts; older guides use the old names. Its resort list covers:

  • Jamaica: the most of any island, at Montego Bay, Negril, Ocho Rios and the south coast
  • St. Lucia: three, now Sandals St. Lucia Grand Bay, La Toc and Halcyon Beach
  • Barbados: two, Sandals Barbados and Sandals Royal Barbados
  • The Bahamas, Antigua, Grenada, St. Vincent and Curaçao: one each

Where adults-only supply is thin

Turks and Caicos has one adults-only all-inclusive, Club Med Turkoise; most Grace Bay resorts take children. The Bahamas has three adults-only resorts, all in Nassau. Puerto Rico has small kid-free hotels but no adults-only all-inclusive.

Planning Barbados, Grenada, St. Vincent or Curaçao? Sandals has adults-only all-inclusives there. St. Martin has Sonesta Ocean Point, an adults-only all-inclusive on the Dutch side; Booking.com allows no children. For Grand Cayman we haven't verified an adults-only resort; our Grand Cayman beachfront guide covers the beaches.

Caribbean or Mexico?

Pick the Caribbean for the island. A real island trip, more couples-only choice in Jamaica, and the Pitons in St. Lucia.

Pick Mexico for choice in one place. Cancun packs a long list of adults-only all-inclusives into one stretch of coast, from the Hotel Zone to Costa Mujeres. See our Cancun adults-only guide.

The short version

Couples Swept Away is the adults-only resort we'd book first in the Caribbean. JOIA Bavaro is the value pick; Bucuti & Tara is the weather pick.

Couples: Couples Swept Away. For less: JOIA Bavaro. Reliable weather: Bucuti and Tara.

For a private pool or an overwater room, see private pool villas in the Caribbean and overwater bungalows in the Caribbean. The adults-only resorts hub lists every guide.

When to go

The Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November (NOAA), and storms can close resorts for months. If you travel then, book a refundable rate and check the resort's own page before you fly.

Winter is peak season, when most islands are driest and rates are highest; St. Lucia's dry season, for example, runs December to May. Aruba sits south of the main hurricane belt, so storms rarely reach it.
